The school is okay, but you absolutely need to do thorough research before attending.
One major issue is that some Haitian students consistently speak Creole, despite orientation stating that no other languages should be spoken during class. Many problems are brought to the campus director attention, but nothing gets resolved until someone is pushed to the point of losing their composure.
The LPN program costs $24,000 per student, yet thereās no graduation or pinning ceremony. Students sacrifice so much and deserve recognition for their hard work. Teacher turnover is extremely high, and clinical sites are poorly selected. I only encountered five genuinely good staff members during my time there.
I paid my loan out-of-pocket and was fully paid up until January, but the campus director refused to refund me for the months I didnāt attendāeven though the handbook says nothing about refunds being denied. I was told that Iād have to wait until January for a refund, yet the school had no problem taking my money right away when I paid. But didnāt wait till January to get my funds though. My advice: pay monthly to avoid losing money.
Also, never tolerate disrespectāespecially about yourself or your deceased family members. There were instances where extremely disrespectful comments were made by a Haitian student, and when I defended myself, I was punished, while the other student (who had multiple prior incidents) was allowed to stay. The class was much better without her, yet they switched her into our class.
Campus director had the nerve to tell me I was āDISQUALIFIEDā from the schoolāwhen in reality, itās not the campus director school. The truth is, Iām always qualified at other schools. I enrolled in a new one just a week after being ādisqualified.ā š With God on my side, Iāll forever be qualified.
They need students money to survive, but I donāt need that school. There are plenty of other options. Iām an actressātrust me, I can attend any school I want, whether itās cheap or expensive.
When you drop, make sure they arenāt still billing your FAFSA. This happened to me, and I only found out because my new school informed me the funds hadnāt been released. Thatās not lawful.
Be prepared to teach yourself most of the material. The school is poorly ran, especially the night program. The environment can be loud and immature, with certain students acting more like children than adults. Some staff often walks around campus with an unfriendly expression and comes across as unapproachable.
Health-wise, wear a maskāstudents come to school sick, and COVID spreads quickly. Even one of our teachers encouraged us to transfer to another school.
I was initially excited to attend because itās Black-owned, but unfortunately, I canāt recommend it.
The school is currently on probation and close to losing accreditation due to low NCLEX pass rates.
Instead of vacationing āDIRECTORSā should be trying to make improvements on school if you canāt keep teachers the owners should be teaching the curriculum
Staff needs to learn how to be fair all around & also be humble nobody is better than the next the same student the staff treats poorly will be the same one they will need
This is my honest opinion be blessed Sincerely A Pending Wealthy...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe reason i gave it 4 stars. I am a recent graduate from MIPB, and im writing this anonymously obviously, but you can trust my review. I can say I am satisfied with the education i received from this school. i came here for the Practical Nursing program and i started last year. when i first came to this school, it was under a different administration so of course the previous negative reviews reflect THAT administration. The new administration seems to be doing a good job at handling the new set of Practical nursing students. im going to outline the Pro and Cons of the school so future students can benefit and help make their own decision.
Pros of the school: -it is one of the cheaper nursing schools in PBC, with financial aid my total tuition cost was 15K. -this school utilizes ATI which is a platform where nursing classes can practice questions and take Final exams. i really loved ATI because it prepared me so well for NCLEX. -The clinical sites where closer to the school so there wasn't much traveling far. -the teacher we had Mr.D was a good teacher, well enough for you to understand the material. -when it comes to getting the greenlight to take the nclex, you just have to pass ATI FINAL EXIT EXAM, if you do GREAT your on to the nclex. (SO USE THE ATI GIVEN TO YOU!!)
Cons of school: (Most of the cons were with the last administration) -when my class was taking the pharmacology module, the school was under the PREVIOUS administration, so for us that was one of the only courses that wasnt taught so well to us but for the newer student you probably wont have to worry as the new administration are making changes to that. -the labs were not so good with my class, as the last administration did no updates to them. so labs werent so good. (updates are being made with the new admin) -LIKE MOST NURSING SCHOOLS, you will have to teach yourself the material. dont go into nursing school expecting to learn everything in class, you will have to go home and study! -the school isn't going to pay for your nclex, not included in tuition, so in total expect to spend around $500 for nclex costs after graduation. -the clinical sites arent the best, most are long term care facility's and they wont allow you to do much other than cna work, some injections, maybe a NG tube here and there.
Overall, its doable if you really want the degree. I passed my nclex recently and that's with everything above stated. There isn't going to be a perfect nursing school, everything has Pros and Cons which is why i hope you take what i said and make your decision. i personally enjoyed the school and the friendships made and the education received. Good luck to you...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreGood afternoon,
My significant other went to this establishment. Iām upset. Why?
upon being admitted to medical institute. You need to qualify for a loan. 14,000 US dollar loan. She was told financial aid will cover a certain amount. But, their is a catch to everything. Mrs. Carla, the financial aid advisor. Did a horrible job. How could you be employed and not worry about the students financial stability. The majority of the people who go back to learn a trade, are people with hope to have a more efficient and stable career.
once accepted. You will have 2 loans. A subsidize loan and a un-subsidized loan. Depends what medical field you will practice and the tuition cost. But wait, you will receive a interest rate increase everyday. Wow!!
Example: 14,000 tuition plus Financial Aid leaves you with 7,725 US dollars.
Split into 2 loans. Subsidize and un-subsidized loan.
120 payments: starting at 81/51 monthly! Depending on which payment you choose.
81= 9720 51= 10k
Why? Because you have 10 years to pay the loan. But, the problem here is. The interest rate per day. Will screw you over in the long run.
Iāve done my calculations and this will all be avoided. Thank God. I can help my significant other through hard times.
Itās upsetting to see. How this institute is more about money. Than, actual help. Pitiful!!
Why are you taking advantage of the students?
Why arenāt you bring awareness.!! Why are you just letting them sign papers and not explaining to them!! Thatās why your a FINANCIAL ADVISOR!!
If you ask me. Thatās false advertisement.
I will continue to spread awareness to people about medical institute. Lack of unprofessional responsibilities.
STUDENTS always remember. Without a person to sit inside their classroom. They have nothing. Keep that in mind. You donāt need MEDICAL INSTITUTE. They need you. There are programs who offer better financial help. And will put you in the right office.
If I could give this establishment a 0stars I will!!
Iām really upset of how you guys handle business.
Big time Finesseās.
The instructors are marvelous.
But, the administration have no soul. Itās been consumed by Benjamin Franklin.
What...
