I never expected to get better service going into a pet store, than I do going to a high end apparel retailer, but yet I did. I am by no means an expert on fish, as I have had guinea pigs and rabbits as pets for most of my life. I had been to other aquarium supply and pet stores in my area, but was either ignored because I wasn't a "frequent flyer" there, or brushed off and told to get something easy, like a beta. I have a catfish that doesn't play well with others, but I still wanted to upgrade his tank, and get him some bigger, non edible friends. When I walked in, I was greeted by a gentleman, whose candor and sense of humor immediately put me at ease. I was able to explain about my cranky cat fish, and he very quickly directed me to two fish that would suit my new tank just fine. From there, I was helped through absolutely every step of the process, from tank selection, to new LED lights. I was shown options, and with honesty and integrity, walked out with 100% a new set up. The only thing that remained the same was Bert, the cranky catfish. Come to find out, the gentleman that spent the better portion of an hour and a half with me was in fact the owner himself. I told him that I came all the way from Boca to go to his store, and he informed me that people come all the way from Orlando to shop at his store. I am not surprised. To say that this was a great experience is an understatement, and I will for sure be a patron here for ALL of...
Read moreI visited Mark’s Ark on April 22, 2025, at 3:27 PM to buy a pet bunny for my daughter’s birthday. What should’ve been a joyful experience turned into a frustrating one, thanks to the cashier, Danielle.
At checkout, Danielle began questioning me about not purchasing a cage from their store. I explained that I had already ordered one on Amazon, which would arrive the next day. She continued to shame me, expressing concern about me keeping the rabbit in a box—as if the store doesn’t already keep their rabbits in similar enclosures.
We had already purchased all the essentials for the bunny, except for the food that we bought instore, which was also arriving the next day from Amazon. My wife politely told Danielle that we weren’t buying anything else, but she wouldn’t let it go. She continued pushing her opinion and ended up shaming and embarrassing us in front of other customers.
To make matters worse, she handled the bunny roughly while boxing it up, showing little care or gentleness. Her attitude was unprofessional, and instead of making us feel good about giving a pet a new home, she made the experience uncomfortable and unpleasant.
Because of this interaction, I won’t be returning to Mark’s Ark and would not recommend it to anyone expecting respectful and...
Read moreDrove up to this place from Boca, as I like to check out aquarium stores. I had two big tanks, one that is 125 gallon. I purchased four pea puffers for my smaller tank. When they placed them in, one looked like it wasn't doing to well, but the clerk states oh don't worry it will be fine, and you have a 3 day return policy. Sure enough when home, the fish was still not doing that well. A few hours later it was dead in the filter. I debated on just cutting my losses, but decided to go back. I brought a water sample, and the clerk states the nitrates were to high and they don't refund. I test my water at home as well, as I have been an aquarist for many years. She said there is no refunds. I told her I drove from Boca , almost an hour, and she didn't seem to care. I will not be going back there, so be careful , as they don't abide by the policy. Very dissatisfied with the customer service I received. The other thing that I wanted to mention was that they tried to sell me a figure 8 puffer, which I noticed was with freshwater fish. This is a brackish water fish. Hopefully they will next time have better customer service, and they will not lose a...
