Experienced as an elite powerlifter, I do enjoy the ability to workout at a high quality fitness club. The WAC offers that opportunity. Their multiple locations throughout metro Milwaukee offer access convenience with one exception- the south side is limited (there is one in Hales Corner). Other than that, the WAC is a nice place to workout and get your "swole" on. It does get very busy during weekday (early morning and evening "rush hour") and Saturday mornings.
The fitness staff and trainers are polite and helpful. The club provides numerous competitive challenges to keep members motivated to lose weight and keep fit. All kinds of fitness options are available including structured fitness classes, swimming lessons, numerous and various aerobic machines, free weights and power racks, sauna, steam, and "free" towel service.
Protein and recovery drinks are available, but priced a little high. As a "member" you'd think they'd provide these at a discount, but in some instances, prices are twice as much for what you would pay at a place like Walgreen's or Sam's. As such, you are better off bringing your own.
Locker rooms are...well locker rooms. Locker storage is more than adequate, however, the room can get a little crowded at times. The floor is carpeted. If you plan on showering after your workout, make sure you bring your "shower shoes" to protect your feet.
Overall, the WAC is a very good fitness club with multiple locations and more than enough resources and fitness programs to help novice and fitness enthusiasts at all levels achieve their fitness goals. If you found this review helpful, a "like" to this post would be much appreciated. Thanks...
Read moreNot thrilled at all. To preface this review, I would have normally given the WAC a much higher score. I loved using the WAC while I was able to, but some recent new disabilities have made it not useful and have made the cost untenable with medical bills. So, we made the hard choice to cancel our membership and my partner went to the WAC in October, canceled our membership (or so we thought), and then came home and told me about it. Well, Dec. 1st rolls around and they charged us for another month. When he canceled on October 23rd he was told our last month would be November and that was fine. I accepted having to pay November, because that was in the contract.
Today, he called and they told him they have no record of him canceling and that they were sorry but they already charged us for December and they would cancel us for January. Charging us an additional $120 because of staff incompetence, especially right now, and then saying, "sorry we have no record you canceled," is not right. I had considered coming back to the WAC when I eventually could, but I'm not exactly sure I want to after this. It shouldn't be the job of the consumer to have to double check an...
Read moreThe WAC is great! They have super friendly staff and recently updated facilities! The locker rooms and indoor pool recently went through big updates to really improve the facilities. The place is always clean, even with the minor remodeling happening.
Included in your membership are complementary classes, with a lot of options! They offer lots of incentives for working out, such as earning free t-shirts. free massages, and premium classes!
I enjoy the wide selection of machines and seems to be a good amount for the amount of people I see going there. I wish there was a little bit bigger area for functional strength training or stretching. The area near the free weights get crowded easily that I end up using a group fitness room...
