A&W Restaurant — Restaurant in Hales Corners

We went to an A&W down near Racine recently and had a really nice meal, a good time, and great service. So my son asked about going back again today. This turns out to be the closest A&W to our house so we came here. For those of you who may not have ever been to an A&W, one of the main draws is the root beer. It taste different than what you can get at the store. It comes in a big frosty mug. It's a fun experience. You can also normally drink as much as you'd like. Not here. The restaurant is normally setup like a normal fast food spot. Not this place. Same decor and look as fast food, but they "seat" you. I don't know why; I have been to walk up counters that keep the soda machine behind the counter. Culver's brings me my food too. This "seating" you added nothing to the experience. The previous A&W we had been to less than a week ago had let me get root beer with my meal and then up charge to a float after eating. Awesome. Not this place. "I can upcharge for a float now, but you won't get anything to drink except the float." I guess that makes sense in a no-free-refills dystopian reality. Service was lack luster and the nickel and dime policies were out dated and irritating to say the least. I will drive the extra 18 minutes out of my way to go back to the other location than come back...

This A & W Location in Hales Corners, Wisconsin has good Food. It is a nice little sit down place. It is not very big. It is a modern day A & W.

The A & W Location in Lancaster, Wisconsin is better. The Location in Lancaster, Wisconsin is a Old Fashioned A & W. Out there they still wear the Old Fashioned quarter holsters & the Old Fashioned Uniforms. It is also a bigger Location for a Small Town. The Food is about the same.

A&W is a great spot to stop for a quick meal and a little dessert, especially if you love root beer floats! No matter what, we always have some of that delicious A&W root beer to accompany our meal!

My son and I love to come here before Cub Scout meetings! He enjoys watching the tv screens with the changing pictures of specials and menu items. He learns something new about A&W every visit!

I think it was back in summer on one of our visits I saw there was a gyro on the menu. I was super excited about that as I love gyros, and it ended up being a pretty good one! So good in fact that I have looked for it on the menu ever since, though it has not been on there since. (Just my luck, lol)

We will definitely continue to stop here before Scout meetings or before/after school events as it is right...
