I visited with my wife and 6 year old son. Overall it was a good experience, we are undecided if we'd come back. Below are good, neutral and bad about our experience. I'm not here to tell a restaurant how to operate, and the cons here are all things I think could easily be fixed for a 5 star rating.
Good: Gyro hit the spot, good portion size. Street style gyro was better than regular gyro, glad I tried it. Friendly staff. Mostly clean dining room, staff promptly cleaned after guests left.
Neutral: Lots of menu choices, not easy to decipher all the options to know you are making the best choice for your money. Place appears to be fast-ish food, where you order off a board and food is brought out, but we were invited to sit with a menu and have someone wait on us. Totally fine and it went well, but it was confusing for a new customer and didn't "feel" right. Women's restroom could be cleaner. Rather expensive, 2 gyros, a burger, 3 drinks, fries and rice pilaf was over $40. Lots of food but I had sticker shock when I got the bill. Rice pilaf seemed off, reminded me more of Indian rice than what I was expecting. Food presentation is cluttered. Everything comes separately and on multiple kinds of dishes. When it's time to clean up it is very cumbersone and messy. Larger platters to serve a whole combo as one would be easier for customers.
Bad: Grease is too much here, and I don't know why. Regular gyro had grease pouring out if you tipped it up. Once it was done pouring out the meat was flavorful, grease seemed unnecessary, like it was added on top? Street gyro was fatty, but flavorful, haven't had this before so I don't know if it was too greasy. Cheeseburger was greasy enough that it kept sliding apart, which is hard for a 6 year old, he got frustrated. The floors were greasy and super slippery. You could easily slide the tables across the floor with little effort. Made it feel like a dirty KFC restaurant. Everything else was clean so it was puzzling. No kids menu options! Seriously, kids are picky and having to buy and adult size burger is expensive and he ate half of it. Maybe small pizzas would be a great option for kids.
Other: I was surprised that most people coming in were ordering non-greek food (burgers, chicken tenders, won-tons, etc) As we were waiting for our food I was getting worried, but the gyros were good. It's really too bad they have to have so much non-greek food to keep people coming. It probably takes away from the quality when you have to cater to so...
Read moreI found this establishment via Google search on the way home from a family trip. The reviews looked great and this place was highest rated so we gave this a shot. The service and people were great. The establishment was very appealing, and they did a great job making a small space look spacious with their color selection, But were here about the food... the food was a 3/5 across the board. We had the Gyro, Philly cheese steak, and Italian beef. The Philly meat was overcooked otherwise the toppings were great. If the meat wasn't tough this would've been a 4-4.5 for the Philly. The Italian beef was a 3, it also seemed dry, and they don't dunk their IBs even if requested but that's not a problem, the IBs were just lacking. And then we get to the Gyro, what I had hope would save it all; however, it followed the same trend as the others and I did notice that I was getting close to that last shavings of the Gyro meat but my pita was also a little on the tougher side.
Overall, given the other reviews and my sense of this place, this may have been a 1 off experience. The people there seem to care about the condition of their establishment and I sense that they are prideful about the food they deliver. Ultimately I would return during a lunch our or something to give them another go because I want to believe that they are deserving of the high rating they show on Google overall. I just can't give it based on my recent experience solely based on the food.
I typically don't say anything unless it was a 5 star but I just had to with this place after dropping $60 + tip for an "ok" dinner for my...
Read moreSo... I very rarely write reviews. Too many people with uneducated opinions do. Hence, the internet. So, it is with high humility that I give my "opinion". Yes, I know they are like A*&holes, but here is mine on this business.
I was in New Berlin on business. Grew up in Chicago eating Gyros my whole life. Moved to Scottsdale (the most hospitality businesses per capita in the world), I've owned and operated multiple restaurants and bars in Scottsdale and Phoenix. Point being... I've been around in the restaurant and bar (hospitality) industry. Successfully, in one of the most competitive restaurant and bar environments in the world.
I was in New Berlin on business. Thankfully, I found this place on day one. I ate three meals here. WHOLLY SH%#!!!! BEST Gyros I have ever had. The size was double of any other Gyro I have ever eaten (100's of 'em). The taste and quality were second to none. French fries arrived hot and crispy every time. I meet and spoke with the uncle on one visit. Amazing man, HOSPITALITY to the HILT!!! What a great Team, Ownership-Family and Product. A TRIFECTA!
Please try this place out and SUPPORT it. You Will NEVER have a better GYRO. Prove me wrong... Won't Happen.. But please try!!!
To the family, employees and uncle - Thank you VERY MUCH for such amazing meals and experiences.
You guys ROCK!!! If you EVER want to expand to Scottsdale let me know. I'll partner with you in...
