Went with my fiancƩe expecting your typical vendor/booth antique mall, found a museum. Everything is priced like a gallery.
I understand pricing certain antiques is, to an extent, subjective; However, a basic familiarity with materials, styles, pieces, etc., or even some time antiquing, provides a general idea of value/price.
At Apple Dumpling Antiques, a mirror I found for $40 was in a booth here for $345. Exact same size, frame, details, bezel cut glass. A vintage mirror, not even antique yet, nothing remarkable.
As a Victorianist and long term collector, I have a large amount of knowledge and have spent so many hours in antique stores across the world. To your average shopper, inflated pricing is exploitative and harmful⦠Especially considering there is no ālaborā to pay when it comes to creating these piecesā theyāve already existed, clearly.
Donāt let me deter you from checking it out, though. Truly beautiful displays! ⦠Just not your average hidden gem hole-in-the-wall...

Very rude man, felt like I was a bother, and scribbled a number on a sticky note for me to speak to owner. Tried to show him pictures of what we had, and background story of what my grandfather had amassed in his lifetime, but kept being interrupted. Was in my work clothes, and Iām younger, and received the impression he wasnāt interested, in a very disrespectful manner.
Rock House came recommended by another dealer we know utilizing their services, but after that experience, Iām sure I can find 5 other reputable stores that offer similar caliber items, and will at least let me speak and show what we have to offer.
Good luck Rock House, you do have a beautiful variety, but it will not...

I walked in to a slow store and saw about 8 employees in this building and not one spoke to me or made eye contact. I saw so many pieces i would have loved to purchase but i just cant purchase from somewhere that i dont feel welcome. I dont know if its because i look so young or what the reason was but i have never felt so unwelcome in an antique store as i did today. The vendors have beautiful stuff and most is fairly priced but the atmosphere was not welcoming or freindly to me at all. Not worth the...
