Avoid. Called them for a refrigerator that stopped working. Explained to them that it was an LG fridge that was 4-5 years old. They did send a service technician out who determined that the compressor was bad and that a new one would need to be ordered and then they would contact me to arrange the repair. Later that day their supervisor called to tell me that the faulty part is under warranty and to call LG, which I did. LG was very helpful and all they needed was the contact information for Duncan home service so they could send them the defective part, which they did and I confirmed. All Duncan Home Services requested from me was $99.00 service call fee which would be waived if I agreed to authorize them to do the work and pay them 1/2 the repair fee up front, which I did. The total bill was $1,526.00, they waived $99.00 and I paid the $720.00 up front. The next morning I was informed by Duncan that they wouldn’t do the work, alleging they weren’t approved by LG to do the warranty work, after LG just told me they were.. They refunded me $620.00 screwing me out of $100 and leaving me fridge out in the middle of the floor with the back off. In hind sight it was the best thing that happened, because I found an ethical appliance service company to perform the repair with the warrantied part provided from LG, Kevin’s Appliance repair in Bedford, IN. Oh, and the repair bill was $600.00, not $1,526.00. Be sure to do your research. Duncan claims to …”repair all Refrigerators, including domestic and imported brands.” Not true. In fact, Duncan is the one who told me to call LG, then refused to do the repair, however they were ok with...
Read moreThis is kind of a long review but it tells a story and in the end, Duncan was professional and thorough. I had what proved to be a difficult repair. This was for an under counter ice maker. The initial diagnosis was quite costly. Nearly $1,800. However, that was still substantially cheaper than buying a new ice maker. The parts came in and a second appointment was made. Parts were installed and unfortunately, the initial diagnosis was wrong. The leak was not the compressor nor was it the condenser. So another part needed to be ordered. I was assured that there would be no additional charge and that Duncan would get it fixed. When that part finally came in, it was installed only to find that the new compressor that was purchased did not work. Extremely disappointing for all of us. Doubly frustrating for me in as much as the old compressor was actually not bad. At this point, Duncan offered to settle the account or continue on with a second try on the compressor. I opted to try one more time and it is finally making ice again! Since clearly some of the parts that were ordered were not required Duncan actually worked on my bill and substantially discounted the price. I thought it was quite fair. They surely did not make any money on this repair but stood by their commitment and got the job done. At the end of the day, I am willing to pay more for quality work with people who...
Read moreMy wife called Duncan Home Services to come out and look at our Bosch dishwasher about two weeks ago. The technicians were very nice and on time. They told me that the motherboard on the dishwasher had likely gone bad and provided a ballpark figure for getting it replaced which was surprising since the dishwasher is only two years old. Then they said it sounded like the pump in the dishwasher was also going bad and gave me ballpark pricing for that. When they heard the noise again they pointed it out to me at which point I let them know that the sound they were hearing was the garage door and had nothing to do with the dishwasher. It didn't give me a great deal of confidence knowing that the technicians couldn't tell the difference. We paid the $89 fee for them to come out and they said they would be back in touch with a pricing quote for replacing the motherboard. We never heard back from them, which in the end was fine because the problem was as simple as the knife rack not being completely clipped in causing a sensor to not let the dishwasher run. There was absolutely nothing actually wrong with the machine itself. Very disappointed that we wasted the $89 to have them come look at our dishwasher, but glad we didn't pay the $700-$1000 they were talking about for us to replace the motherboard and pump. I am giving them 2 stars because both guys that came out were...
