UPDATE #2: Just noticed a response from a manager.... Not sure what "inappropriate" behavior they are talking about... They clearly do not appreciate honest feedback.
UPDATE: I had given them two stars, but I am knocking it down to one because they felt the need to delete our friend's review on Facebook. I was also deleted after inquiring about why we can't leave actual starred reviews on their business page. Now I can't comment on their page ever again. They claimed to me that they appreciate and accept constructive criticism, but obviously that is not true. And now there is no chance I will ever return here to give them the opportunity to bump up this rating. Neither of us said anything inappropriate. Just trying to let future customers know what's up.
The food was pretty good and our cocktails were mixed well and generously. The crab bruscetta was delicious, though a pretty small portion for a shared appetizer. The overall inexperience of the waitstaff and who appeared to be some sort of manager was disappointing. A list of grievances:
We left the waitress a small tip, and gave the rest to the awesome bus boy who seemed to be the only employee really...
Read moreI don't know why but we were set to be super disappointed in Revery. Maybe because they don't have a menu online to look at since it constantly changes. Or because from the outside it is kinda lackluster.
We were pleasantly surprised!
Service is very casual dining. Our friend let us know before dinner started we'd be there awhile. Our server was very pleasant and was able to answer questions about the food.
We started with Baked Brie with Bacon Jam. The Brie had grill marks on it so I think it may have been grilled and then baked. This Brie did not have the thick skin on it like most. It was very creamy and with the Bacon Jam it was the perfect start. Husband got the Grilled Romaine ( Grilled Caesar ). The dressing was super as were the garlic croutons.
Our entrees were
Sink Salad - iceberg lettuce wedge, sunflower seeds, buttermilk ranch, cheddar cheese, red onion and hard boiled egg. Our friend is a vegetarian and her salad was huge. She also ordered Sweet Potato side- Puréed Sweet Potatoes with Maple Syrup, Spiced Pecans and Marshmallow Fluff. She liked it but the BBQ flavor dusted pecans ruined it for me. Spiced Pecans I expect cinnamon, brown sugar, maybe ginger or nutmeg, not a smoky bbq flavor.
Husband got the Beef Filet with Truffle Potato Puree, Garlic Butter and Asparagus. I got a bite of the each part of this. The filet was tender , the potatoes smooth ( didn't taste the truffle ) asparagus was good and not over cooked.
I got one of the specials of the night Skate Wing topped with Grilled Citrus and Heirloom Tomatoes on top of a Parmesan Risotto. I like seafood and haven't had the opportunity to try Skate till tonight. The texture was Scallops / Lobster as well as the flavor. It was wonderful. The Risotto I think could have used a bit more cooking because some of the rice was almost crunchy and not al dente. But it had great flavor. The Grilled Citrus went very well with the dish.
Even though we were all full someone asked to see the dessert menu. My friend and I ordered the Banoffee Jar Pie - Sweetened Condensed Milk Carmel with Bananas and Chantilly Cream on a Graham Cracker Crust. It was to die for. Husband got the Brownie- Salted Caramel Sauce, Toasted Merengue and Moose Tracks Ice Cream. I ate a bite of the Merengue he ate everything else and threatened to lick the plate.
Extremely good meal. We were...
Read moreAfter reading great reviews about the food and service, I had pretty high hopes that my birthday dinner was going to be great. It began with waiting 20 minutes at our table before I finally flagged down a tall, young gentleman (responsible for filling drinks and clearing the table) to snag someone to stop by our table. The appetizers we ordered were great except awfully small to be shared. When my food arrived, I discovered that my salmon was raw in the middle. I pointed this out to a woman with short, reddish hair, polka dot pants, and suspenders. She informed me that they serve their salmon raw. I chuckled and said "This is a cooked salmon dish. Why would it be raw in the middle? He (another person in our party) ordered the same thing and his is not raw in the middle at all. This is ice cold." She persisted to insinuate that I didn't know what I was talking about and asked if I would like it well done. It's incredibly insulting and in bad taste to treat a patron of your establishment in that manner. "Cooked, please." I said. She took it back to the kitchen without an apology for the mistake. When she brought the dish back, the salmon looked like it had been dropped and then placed on the plate, it was missing two components for the salmon, and the sides were a cold, scattered mess. We finished dinner and a woman in a cobalt blue dress brought the check. She returned my sister's debit card but kept the change from the other bill (mine). She stated "I didn't know if you wanted the change so I just kept it. Oooor did you want it?" I'm not sure if she's inexperienced but that is an absolute faux pas in the restaurant industry. In most cases I would just leave it, but when someone assumes and keeps my money, I ask them to bring it back. We should've received over $9 back, she brought us $8. Our two parties split the tips we left between the table and the young gentleman I spoke of earlier. He worked hard all evening and did an excellent job. No matter what he was doing, he had a great attitude. He was the best part of the evening and I hope he is appreciated there. He is the only reason we did not get up and walk out. Needless to say, I doubt I go back to Revery any time soon. I won't be recommending it to anyone and I've been sure to share...
