Xfinity is just as bad as everybody says, don't let the positive reviews throw you off. If you've had good experiences with Xfinity, it's because you've been lucky with your representatives. It's only a matter of time until everybody wastes their time or money dealing with Xfinity customer service, no matter how hard you try to avoid it.
I was happy that their silly data cap was suspended in my area for the longest time, but they re-enabled it at some point without ever notifying us. We've gone over the cap at least once in the past (one of two, "courtesy months," which reset every 12 months. When the kids are off from school are when things get tough.
They claim that 99% of customers don't use near that amount of data, but literally anybody with kids and access to Youtube is likely to go over your caps, and then the expenses get ridiculous. Don't worry, though, you can pay an additional $50/mo to get unlimited data (after we'd just lowered our bill to $40). Every plan has the 1TB data cap, except for their single most expensive (and fastest) plan.
The first time we called, we got through to the manager pretty easily and the girl gave us the same promotions as the ones we were able to find online (the promotions), but we decided to try and shop around because the prices still seemed a touch too high. We inevitably ended up groveling back to Xfinity yet again, however, because they completely monopolize our area. It was much more difficult the get the next representative to just offer us the promotional price, the second time, and he was reluctant to connect us with a manager -- but it worked out eventually. They didn't even charge the correct amount when they ended the existing plan. I got charged for over half a month of use when we'd been on at the new price (without warning) for only a week.
On internet service, speed and value, Xfinity gets a solid 4.5 stars. If you have Xfinity in your area, and don't mind dealing with them (wasting your time), and don't mind signing a contract, and don't mind forcing them to give you the newest promotional rates once it expires, and don't use more than 1TB a month, and don't have anything else better available just to ease the headache, then their internet service is great. I bought my own router and modem for about $30 combined and haven't paid a rental fee since, which can also be more difficult at smaller providers (compatibility). We would switch off of their service the SECOND any other legitimate competitor came into our area. We were really exited when we thought Verizon was here now.
On television service and value, they get 1.5 stars. The connection has been somewhat inconsistent in the past, but the value is simply what kills Xfinity here. Cable is simply far, far overpriced considering the value. For $40 you can get a basic internet plan, which is already fast enough to stream video for multiple users simultaneously, without hesitation. You then get complete flexibility over what you want to watch, when you want to watch it and how much you want to pay for it. Just make sure you don't go over your data cap. Lower the quality on videos, to help.
I always wanted to try their cool X1 operating system for their boxes, but I couldn't stop laughing when I actually found out you have to upgrade your service to get it. Comcast's old operating system in their boxes was about comparable to DISH, who is an affordable carrier, despite Comcast gouging us on price. X1, as far as I know (since I never got to use it), offers users much more flexibility and may have been one of the keys to keep cable in people's houses. But instead of offering to all existing customers, their greed knows no bounds if somebody even mentions cable to me these days I either cringe, or just start laughing at the idea.
Xfinity mobile seems interesting, and the value proposition is high. I need phone service, so I'll be looking into, but it's currently difficult to get on unless you want to buy a phone for way too much money just so you can try it. They don't currently support BYOD...
Read moreXfinity cable is an absolute disaster of a company. I have never had such a terrible experience with a service provider in my life. From the moment I signed up for their service, it was clear that I was in for a rough ride. The first problem I encountered was being overcharged on multiple occasions. Despite repeated attempts to rectify the situation, Xfinity refused to take responsibility for their mistake and made it extremely difficult for me to get the charges removed. This was just the beginning of my nightmare with Xfinity. The customer service provided by Xfinity is nothing short of a joke. The agents I spoke with were rude, unhelpful, and refused to give me their name or employee number. This made it almost impossible to hold them accountable for their actions, and I was left feeling frustrated and powerless. To make matters even worse, while in the middle of filing a complaint, Xfinity locked me out of their system, making it impossible for me to speak with anyone or resolve the issues I was having. This was the final straw for me and I decided to cancel my service with Xfinity. In conclusion, I would advise anyone considering signing up for Xfinity cable to look elsewhere. The company is nothing but a nightmare and will only cause you headaches and frustration. They are not transparent and their customer service is the worst I have ever experienced. You are better off finding another...
Read moreBeware: Comcast's Early Termination Fees are Exorbitant!
I regretfully signed up for Comcast's internet service, and I must warn anyone considering it to think twice before committing. Not only was the service mediocre at best, but the company's practices are downright predatory.
First and foremost, the internet speeds promised were rarely achieved, and the connection was constantly dropping. It's frustrating to pay for a service that fails to deliver consistently. But what really left a sour taste in my mouth was Comcast's early termination fee.
Due to various reasons, I needed to cancel my subscription earlier than anticipated. To my shock, Comcast slapped me with an $850 early termination fee! This fee is utterly unjustifiable and feels like extortion. It's outrageous that they would penalize customers so heavily for discontinuing their service, especially considering the subpar quality of what they offer.
Furthermore, it's worth noting that there are plenty of better and cheaper internet options available. Do yourself a favor and explore other providers in your area before even considering Comcast. Trust me; you'll thank yourself later.
In conclusion, Comcast's exorbitant early termination fees and lackluster service make them a company to avoid at all costs. Save yourself the headache and look elsewhere for your...
