I've been going to this store for 13 years. I've personally purchased several vacuums there for home and our cottage due to the quality of the product and service provided. I've referred many in the community to this store over this time because I truly believed that Bank's Vacuum offered the best selection and service. While the products they sell are not inexpensive, they are of high quality and they service those products well.
With that said, I had a not so wonderful experience today. Recently, our Simplicity vacuum lost suction, and we figured it was a clog. We took it to Banks on a Monday to get serviced. While I was in the store, I sang the praises of the Simplicity product line, now called Riccar, and the salesman gave me a demo of the newest upgrades to the machine, and how how much better the newest model is compared to the one I own. The sticker price on that unit was well over $1,000, and I wasn't in the market to get a new machine, regardless of how wonderful the upgrades were. The gentleman informed me that I would receive call in the next day or two on the quote for service. I followed up on a Friday as I had not received a call. The employee corrected me that he in fact had called me on Tuesday, but I didn't pick up. I looked at my phone and had no missed call logged and no voice mail. Needless to say, it's beside the point, but what's the point of correcting me? Anyway, he goes on to say that he suggested that I do a full service and replace the motor. The motor replacement doubled the cost of the service, and my wife questioned the motor replacement. The Bank's employee encouraged me to get the work done as we had serviced the machine well in the past and it's the right idea to keep it in good shape. So, I approved the full service and the motor replacement. When I picked up my vacuum today, and paid the service bill, the same employee tells me that I made a mistake in getting the vacuum serviced, and that I should have purchased a new vacuum. I informed him that I followed his recommendation, and now I'm feeling duped. Similar to the phone call situation, why tell me that I made a mistake, after I paid the bill? I told him that I did not appreciate the tactics, and I had to seriously question whether or not to work with Bank's in the future. What's the point in making your customer's feel poorly about their course of action, after you paid them hundreds of dollars for the service? Keeping in mind, all the family and friend referrals I had made to the store.
I still think Bank's has excellent products, but perhaps not the best employees. Find people that can work with your customers and treat them right. You built a solid, repeat customer that drove referrals to your business, and your employee made moves through this transaction to throw it all away so easily. ...
Read moreJohn gave me a warm welcome and was very, very helpful so pleasant ( my first time). Todd is his name, let me say it very loud: Todd should get a good metal. I bought my vacuum from Fingerhut didn't have it a month (I used carpet deodorant powder) Todd instantly tought me better. Upset I call fingerhut and they sent me too Banks vacuum in Grosepoint woods...Mack Ave, I was raised in that area so my first thought was is it going to cost me alot of money even though I was covered by fingerhut but! you know how that works. When I tell you Todd not only educated me on vacuums, I also felt he wasn't going to cheat me and because of his honesty and integrity, I was very comfortable with buying a vacuum cleaner from him, one that works with bags might I add, I look forward to seeing him every 8 months for a belt replacement or sooner for new bags, "who ever thought" I would be using a bag vacuum again..Todd I love your work place very clean and nicely put together and the professionalism is A1 your company should be very proud of you, THIS MAN REALLY KNOWS HIS STUFF, IM NOT KIDDING. congratulations sir, you have a customer for life.🫶🏾 In my photo's is the vacuum I bought from Banks vacuum and the vacuum I shouldn't have bought and wouldn't have bought had I talk to Todd first, guess which one is Banks vacuum!!! Read moreI went to Banks Vacuum today to get a replacement part for my Dyson DC-41, a c-clip to be exact. Todd was able to help as soon as I entered the store, and was able to tell what I needed from the broken pieces I brought in. To be honest I saw the piece cheaper on Amazon (audible gasp of disbelief), but I am making a conscious choice to support local business. Also the difference in price was so small that if you factor in the price of prime and the piece; it would have been more. Alas though the next remark talks directly to the reason you go support local. They did not have a new piece, but did have a used one in great condition that they gave to me. I will tell you this if I need a new vacuum I will be going to Banks, until that point I will go there for their expertise on my vacuum, and finally I will not get another Dyson to save my life. Personal experience is they are garbage and the scuttlebutt is they are not that great. I appreciate the help, knowledge, customer service, and locale. ...
