Alright, I'm going to try to write what happened and not sound like I'm venting, I just want people and even Gamestop to be aware of how poor this customer service was.
Let's get right to it. My friend really likes Fire Emblem, and wouldn't you know it, the new Fire Emblem games came out right around his birthday. So I figured I'd grab him one, but surprise surprise, the Gamestop where I live was sold out of the game. That's totally fine, it happens. So I drive to the next closest one, it too is sold out. Now, I'm sweating bullets I little bit, because I really wanted to get the game for my friend on his birthday and I now have already sunk about an hour trying to find it.
So I start calling around to other games stops, I call the one in Gurnee outside of the mall and they too were out of the game. But they tell me the one in the Gurnee Mills Mall has a few copies. Gurnee Mills is about 40 minutes from where I live, but I decide I'll make the trek out there to get the game. Fearing I may make the trip for no reason (it has happened to me before), I ask the guy if he could place the game on hold for me. He says no problem.
So far, great. So I make the drive, takes about an hour to get there. I walk into the store, and this middle aged, apparently disgruntled white guy asks if I need help. I say I called ahead and asked for a game to be held. With all the sarcasm in the world, he scoffs and says, "Yeah... well i DIDNT put it on hold cause I figured... you know..." He points around his store, no one is there. I guess he assumed that I would know this, and also assumed that I would know how stupid it would be to hold the game. But then, with a jerk smile he says, "But don't worry, it's here."
I nearly lost it there. Then, after doing this to a customer, he tries to upsell me like the idiot he thinks I am. At this moment I realized Game Stop has become something terrible, and made it clear in my mind that I would never shop at any chain again. That one guys interaction lost a ten year customer. I have never had a worker be that stand-offish ever, and I honestly feel like I didn't do anything too bad (I've worked in retail, I know how annoying it can get).
Anyways, there you go, I can't recommend this store. Especially if they got guys like that...
Read moreEach time I come to this Game Stop I have nothing but bad experiences with the employees. This time I purchased a Funko Pop that's was released in 2021, I noticed some Funko Pop's had 'new' or 'used' stickers on them so I asked the man behind the counter if the Funko Pop was used. The man laughed followed along with a scoff and a eye roll and said 'Why would you even ask that?' He sounded offended that I was just wondering if this Funko Pop was a 'trade in' or 'brand new'. I explained to him that there were Funko Pops that had 'new' and 'used' stickers on them and that this Funko was released in 2021 and I wanted to know if it was used or not, I collect Funko's and I didn't mind if it was used or not I was just curious. The guy didn't even give me a straight answer if it was or not new as he was trying to defend that these were collectables and they shouldn't have stickers on them to begin with because people like to keep them in the box. Right, I'm one of those people. I did purchase the item because like I stated, didn't mind if it was used or not it was in good condition its just it was released in 2021, had a new 'gamestop' exclusive sticker which is different from the old ones. So, again, didn't get a straight answer, dude was a bit rude about my curiosity and won't be coming back to this Game S top again. It's like they laugh at customers that are actually trying to ask questions and understand the item of the product they're about to purchase. Dude was even rude to the customers in front of me asking for an item to be taken down from...
Read moreWas at GameStop November 24th 2021 6 p.m. when I saw the staff receive a shipment of 6 Pokemon ETB Celebrations boxes for "Black Friday". I walked up to the register and asked if I can purchase one and the team lead stated that I was able to purchase two. I only purchased 1. She then began to explain that basically the other four boxes were going to be purchased by the (2) employees that called "Dibs"... They were working behind the counter and still on the clock (company time) and are not available. She said they do this all the time due to Pokemon cards being hard to find. I was SHOCKED. I left and came back 20 minutes later for the second ETB Pokemon Box, the female team lead was gone for the day and those two employees told me that that box is no longer available! I will be notifying Corporate Offices as soon as the holidays are over so they can further investigate this. This product was for the customers however they took it upon themselves to HIDE and purchase these hard-to-find items for themselves. THESE PRODUCTS WERE NEVER ONCE PUT OUT ON THE FLOOR FOR THE PUBLIC, they stayed behind the counter on the floor in a brown box covered up. They laughed about it when I questioned them. It was three employees all in on this including the team lead that was ending her shift...
