Village Coins & Collectibles LLC is one of if not the coolest coin shops in New Jersey! Rick and Mike are the salt of the Earth kind of people!
With me being an avid numismatist, I regularly seek out new and different coin shops. It was over an hour drive for me to come visit Village coin but it was well worth the journey!
My main goal the day of my visit was to purchase some old school, fractional, constitutional silver (Pre-'65 Halves, Quarters, and Dimes)
Village Coin had all in abundance!
They had a tub full of each denomination and when I asked about buying some, Mike, one of the owners, pulled out a tub at a time and set me over on the counter to help myself in picking/selecting the coins I wanted in my respective rolls! What coin shop does that?!
So here I am going through each tub of dimes, quarters, and halves, feeling like a kid on Christmas, picking out the coins I like best!
Mike also threw in the plastic coin tubes in which to hold each denomination; again above and beyond.
After 2 rolls of dimes, 1 roll of quarters, and 1 roll of halves, the only problem I had was that their prices were too good and I still had fiat paper currency left over!
So I immediately fixed that by picking up (4) beautiful Morgan Dollars and (3) more rolls of silver dimes!
I think it's also important to mention that while I was in the coin shop, which was close to an hour, all sorts of people kept coming and going buying and selling and some people just came in to stop and chat with the coin shop owners.
My first impression of these guys and how the public interacted with them told me everything I needed to know in order to feel safe and comfortable in doing business with them.
This place was seriously chill and welcoming!
Oh I almost forgot; when I first came in. I was greeted by the warm smell of Philly Pretzel Factory Pretzels to which Mike and Rick both asked if I wanted some! lol so cool.
At the end of my visit when I was done digging through all the different bins Mike gave me antibacterial to clean my hands and some towels to clean up and he gave me a bag to put everything in along with a warm smile and a prompt fist bump.
Rick was busy giving a price on some silver flatware for another customer but he took time away from that transaction to give me a very warm "Thank you, and have a great day!".
Very seldom in life do you come across a business or people that make you feel as welcome and as special and important as these two gentlemen have managed to do.
Thank you guys for turning my hobby into such a wonderful experience. I can't wait to come back!
If anyone is looking for a safe and reputable place to either get a price to sell or buy anything numismatic or precious metals related or of a collectible nature, do yourselves a favor and stop by and see these two gentlemen first or last it doesn't matter; you'll be very...
Read moreAfter Village Coins & Collectibles was recommended to me by two different people, I decide to make a phone call. I had a collection of various coins from my parents and now that both have passed away, I needed to find out their value for the estate. Mike, one of the owners, was friendly and polite on the phone and by the end of our conversation I had made an appointment to meet with by the end of the week. When I arrived, I admired the look of their business. The building was updated but still had some old building charm. It was warm and inviting. Mike greeted with a smile, a professional attitude and knowledge that was amazing! Mike truly knows shows his love of collection and shared all his knowledge with me when discussing the coins I brought to him. He was patient, kind and funny. I walked away with a better understanding of what I had in my possession and could explain everything to my siblings when we settle our parent's estate.

Read moreI spent 3 years building a collection of silver/gold/coins from this store from 2019-2021. I cooled off on buying when prices started rising. There is now a new owner. I walked in today to discuss selling some of my collection now that prices have gone up. I told the person at the counter I may be interested in selling and was looking for a value of what they would offer but I also told him I may take it elsewhere to get other pricing as well. I guess I struck a nerve because he barked at me about his appraisal pricing and told me to go shop it somewhere else and then bring it back and he will “beat their offer”. I am seriously disappointed in the new ownership of this shop. I have been in the shop when the old owner would explain to people he isn’t in the business of giving free appraisals just for people to go elsewhere. I never asked for a free appraisal. I simply asked how I would go about getting a price. I’ve never sold before I just acquired so I wanted someone who could explain to me the best way to go about selling my collection. I stood there stunned with the way I was spoken to. I hope they don’t treat everyone this way. I even went into the shop when it first opened under the new ownership and spoke to the same guy before they had one item in their cases about my interest in coins and how I was happy they bought the business and is keeping the shop alive. I left there seriously disappointed...
