Treno just lost my business (and i take large parties here for work events bimonthly), and here’s why. We had a table of 9 for my wife’s birthday, and the service? Well, let’s just say it wasn’t a celebration.
I get that this isn’t a Michelin-star spot, but c’mon—there are basic standards any restaurant should hit. Our waitress? Clearly in over her head. She took our drink orders, then jumped straight to appetizers. But hey, why bother with drinks, right? So, the apps came out before the drinks. No silverware on the table, one or two plates for three appetizers. I ended up eating Brussels sprouts off a napkin using my son’s fork—because, why not?
By the time we finished appetizers, still no drinks, and our waters were bone dry with no refills in sight. Eventually, she asked if we wanted another round, but didn’t bother to take any of the empty glasses. Plates from apps? Still there. Plates from dinner? Yep, still there too. We finally just stacked our own dishes and slid them over to the next table, figuring they’d get better service than we were.
Now, before you think I’m here just to bash the waitress, let me be clear. Where was the manager? I used to work in hospitality, and when someone’s drowning on a busy night, the manager jumps in. Instead, she was left to sink.
And here’s the kicker: I asked for a birthday dessert with a candle for my wife at the beginning of the meal. Simple, right? Dinner ends, 20 minutes go by, and no dessert. I had to remind her twice. Meanwhile, my wife’s giving me that “Oh, thanks for forgetting my birthday” look. Do you know how it feels to sit there like a clown while everyone waits for a birthday dessert you ordered two hours ago? Brutal.
Treno, do better. This wasn’t just a bad night—it was a train wreck, and you’re not getting another chance.
Ps look at the photos, menus still on the table, a piece of cheese cake with no extra spoons. I Had to ask for the bill and instead of giving it to me who was at the head of the table and ordered dessert, it was handed to the assumed person who might be picking up the tab.
