READ BBB COMPLAINTS!!! Too many people with the EXACT same issues!! I WOULD NOT ORDER FROM THIS STORE IF OUT OF THEIR CITY OR STATE. I had a horrible experience getting my furniture delivered--waited 11 months and they had all but two pieces for 6 months and would not send it. I found the delivery manager impossible to deal with and extremely rude and disrespectful. Even now, trying to get items of the furniture repaired or replaced is difficult. I've waited two months and no one is responding and nothing is scheduled to get fixed or replaced. I just WOULD NOT EVER order from this store or refer anyone to this store. Maybe others locally have had a decent experience, but my experience out of state was horrible. I purchased 20 items of furniture, so it was no small purchase. I was also forced to take a delivery after working a 12.5 hour work day. The delivery truck showed up at 8 PM and didn't finish until 11:45 PM. I had to work early the next morning and had been up since 5:40 AM that day. The delivery manager did not care. I was forced to take it regardless. Still, I cannot get someone to prove items have been ordered to replace damaged pieces nor is someone calling to come do repairs. I've had to get my cc company involved multiple times, and they've had to reach out to the company. This has been a lesson learned for me. I don't think all out of state orders would go like this, and this should not have either. But with this store, it was beyond unpleasant. My sales person did try to help as much as she could, and I think she genuinely cared that my experience was horrific and was kind enough to apologize more than once. If you have other options, go purchase elsewhere would be my sincere advice. UPDATE: it’s now June 2023 and I STILL need two pieces that were damaged to be replaced. I’ve been waiting for 11 months for the one and 4 months for the other (second time bc they didn’t inspect the pieces before they delivered). It’s been nearly TWO YEARS since I gave the store my money and I STILL can’t get the furniture or my money back. Order elsewhere! Update 12/11/23: it has taken me THREE years to get a dresser mirror, and I had to get the New Jersey Attorney General involved to even get this. They called and scheduled my delivery for 12/13, but today, on 12/11 at 4 PM a delivery driver calls and says they will be here at 9 PM TODAY. I said, my delivery is 12/13. The company did not even call me about this change. I am a teacher and got a substitute and did lesson for 12/13. They tell me the driver is ahead of schedule. Two days ahead?! I had to cancel my night’s plans/appt. Then they tell me I have to receive the mirror tonight or tomorrow morning, and I am high school teacher with 140 teenagers at 7:45 AM. I can’t just skip work and not go in. Then they threatened that they will take the mirror back to NJ and they will never bring it back to me. They are HORRIBLE!! Read moreThis place should not get any stars. We ordered a couch in December of 2020 from here because an online rep said the couch was available and would be delivered within a week. We never received a confirmation after we placed the order so we decided to call in and spoke with Vijay. Vijay informed us the couch would be delivered by the end of December, beginning of January 2021. We were okay with this time frame.
Home Living never reached out to us to let us know that the delivery was pushed back to the end of January, beginning of February. We had to call and again, we spoke with Vijay who told us it was pushed back because Ashley was having problems due to COVID. Again, we were fine with this.
The delivery date continued to get pushed back and before we cancelled, our delivery date was pushed back all the way to May. Again, we placed the order in the beginning of December. We were patient with Vijay and Home Living but to our disbelief, in order to cancel our order, we would be forced to pay the 30% cancellation fee. The agreement we signed said we were to be given the option to cancel after 60 days from the date of sale for a full refund. At no point in time were we given that option. Instead, we were offered a loaner sofa while we wait, but they couldn't tell us exactly when the original sofa will be there because "Ashley dropped the ball." We tried to explain to Vijay and other customer service reps that the contract clearly states that we are entitled to a full refund, but they said it was company policy to charge a restocking fee because the vendors charge them.
The agreement you sign upon ordering a product is pretty clear but they don't even follow it. To be forced to pay a 30% cancellation fee because of someone else's mistake is ridiculous. If we had been told the truth that the couch was NOT actually in stock our order would have absolutely never been placed. Instead we were trapped into an order spanning what would ultimately be 5 months, if not more, with no option to cancel for a full refund. Read moreWe had been looking for 2 display / curio cabinets for some time. We had 2 on order with another company but we were outside their delivery area. I contacted several moving companies but considering the quotes ranged between $500 and $1,200 we decided we would pick them. So once they arrived we would have to rent a truck and drive 2 hours to pick them up. Then we would still need to hire someone to get them upstairs in our home.
On a whim, we decided to shop locally again, and we found one we liked. The salesperson said it was discontinued but he said he had a rep that he would contact on Monday to see if he could get a second one and that he would get back to me.
We went home and I decided to look around on line to see if I could find one , just in case he was unable to find a second one. It looked like Home Living Furniture did so I called and I spoke to Barbara. I told her the situation and she said she would be happy to check the stock. She returned to the phone and told me that there were 2 in stock!
I asked if delivery to our home in Delaware and to the 2nd floor was available and she confirmed it was! It was $275 which was more than worth it! I told her I would just take both as it made more sense.
I told her I needed to confirm for sure that I could cancel my pending order at the other store before I could place the order and she said not a problem. I called the other store, cancelled my order and called back and told Barbara I wanted to go ahead with the purchase. I was even able to get an "on-line" discount!
The furniture was delivered even sooner than promised which was great! The delivery team was very friendly and did a great job of getting them upstairs and placed where we wanted them, without any issues to either the cabinets or the walls.
I know for sure then next time we need furniture I will either shop on line again or we will make the trip to New Jersey to visit the showroom. I also plan on letting my friends know what a gem I found!
