The yarn selection is great! But the customer service could be better. My friend and I, both identify as women of color, both walked into the store and were looking for a specific type of yarn, but no one extended their hand in helping. Instead, the three ladies in the back acknowledged our presence and continued to knit. Then, when purchasing the yarn, no one came to help. I had to ask for someone to come to the register. Not only that, but the three ladies looked at each other before a brave soul stood up and said that she'll "take care of it." Additionally, when I left, there was no "thank you" or "take care," only a "bye." I felt invisible and humiliated. Normally, I would brush this aside, but what bothered me most was that an older white couple walked in through the door and received so much more attention and care than I did. Another thing that bothers me is that I usually come alone and receive decent customer care. Are two women of color too intimidating for Lambikin's to handle? Also, are there any good yarn shops in the area - one that actually respects people of color? I don't foresee myself or my friend making the mistake to go to...
Read moreI have found my tribe at Lambkins Hideaway! I moved to this area about 2 years not really knowing anyone outside of my husbandâs family. However, since my first trip in, the girls at Lambikins (Nora, Regina, and others) have always been warm and welcoming toward meâŚeven as an âoutsiderâ. As one who has moved often, I have found that it is often businesses like these who become my first âfriendsâ when new to an area. It is so nice to be recognized and remembered by name when you walk through the door (think Cheers!). Equally nice are the people that Lambikins Hideaway attracts, an ecclectic group of individuals - all ages and backgrounds - who just want to share and bond over their love of yarn! And with all the gorgeous yarn this store offers, whatâs there not to love?! Yep, this place...
Read moreI was visiting the area from out of state, and one of my favorite things to do is to find yarn at a local yarn shop to knit my souvenir. My mom and I had originally chosen a shop in Mason, and we had such an awful experience there that I was afraid to try again. But I'm so glad I did, on the recommendation of a Hamilton resident. She brought us there the next day, and the staff was so friendly (not in an overbearing way at all, either) that I hated to leave! I was so angry about my bad experience the other day that I ended up spending twice as much as I planned (LOL, that'll show'em), but I will gladly do so again the next time I visit. Thanks very much to the wonderful women at Lambikin's... you have a...
