I am extremely disappointed in the experience I had here last night. My hair is not at all what Kyleigh and I had discussed and agreed upon. Originally I told her I liked the color of my hair just felt like it had a slight red tone and she agreed it was just brassy. She asked if I wanted it more ashy or rich chocolate colored (I’m brunette) and I said a rich chocolate like a Hershey chocolate bar. Then we talked about how I just wanted a trim and I asked what she said needed to be taken off which she said was 1/2”-1” which I was fine with as well. If she felt it needed to be an inch or two I trusted that. I also said I do long layers around my face but that’s it because I’ve been growing it out to be long and thick. Felt rushed but also seemed pretty straight forward. Should have trusted that feeling. My hair is now so dark of a shade of brown it’s almost black which I can adjust to and luckily will lighten since it’s a gloss. Still not as discussed. The horrible portion is the cut. She took off about 4” and put in so many layers EVERYWHERE that are even 2” shorter than that. They’re not long layers. They’re not around my face. It’s so choppy and horrible. My hair is now way shorter and so thin. Also had dye on the sides of my face which shows how rushed. Not at all as discussed. I said it was pretty, paid, and left because I do not trust this would be fixed. I was also so upset I’ve been trying to grow my healthy long and thick and had achieved that till it was ruined yesterday. I’ll have to cut another 2” off at least to fix this mess. I wanted to ask for a refund but also felt so judged at this salon. Can see the choppy layers in the pictures. If you want that look, go see her because she is...
Read moreI had a puzzling experience at Ivy Salon. I had a party to attend in two and a half weeks, and my roots were showing already. My appointment was coming up but in 3 weeks. I called to see if I could move my appointment up, but the receptionist told me my stylist had no time. So I asked if there was any way to squeeze me in or if another stylist could help. The receptionist mentioned that another stylist was available but said she couldn’t arrange it because I was someone else’s customer.
Rather than being kind and offering to speak with my stylist or find a solution, she was emotionally unstable, dismissive, and unwilling to help. Her behavior was surprising, as she didn’t even attempt to offer a solution. To make things stranger, I received a message the next day saying I had been removed as a client!
Honestly, I’m better off without this place. I’ve already found a more professional and accommodating hairdresser who values their clients. This is not how a business should treat customers, and I'm glad I’ve moved on to a...
Read moreFirst time there and loved everything about them.
I wear my hair long. I neither have the time or talent to style my own hair, so...long hair. First time I've gone to a salon and they didn't go on and on about me cutting it. I've gone to some nice places and they were so condescending ( just because..)."it's not the style, aren't you too old?...it's so dry and brittle," ( even though I'm told many times a month my hair is pretty). Stylist Ella took her time, was very sweet and I think had some fun playing with it all.
Love the look and feel of the place. Parking is directly behind the shop (West side downtown Hamilton, Main Street) so easy to park and enter.
I held my breath as I checked out . . . it was reasonable!! I can't tell you how many times I've gone to get a trim some place, just a trim, no washing or conditioning and it cost me nearly $80. Ivy washed it, conditioned it, cut it, shaped, dried and curled, for a very reasonable amount, so I could afford to tip.
I will be back and I will recommend...
