The Hammond Event Center — Local services in Hammond

I gave this place 1 star only because I had to. If there was an option for negative zero stars then that is what they would've gotten based off my experience! The hall in it self was very beautiful, but the owners of The Event Center LaMaison Celebrazione are HORRIBLE! I've NEVER in my life witnessed anything like them! My sister and brother in-law had their wedding and reception here this past Saturday and from what I've been told they've had issues once they paid their money. I will only speak on what I know and witnessed myself. The day before the wedding we were there for the rehearsal and everything was going well. Some of the men were bringing in the decorations and the next thing you know the owner (wife) comes charging from the stage screaming and yelling at the guys about propping the back door open. I would've thought she was yelling at her kids they way she was pointing her fingers and yelling about the door being opened! She then threatened to turn the air off and 20 minutes later the air was OFF! Once we were done with the rehearsal we discussed with the wife what time we could come back in the morning to finish decorating. My sister wanted to come early as possible, so she asked if we could come at 8am. The owner (wife) was a little hesitant, but she agreed we could come from 8am-11am. At that time I asked her what time did we have the hall from the day of the wedding and she said until 1am. Since I'd heard other stories about another woman whom had her wedding there I asked her if we had to clean up in the morning or the night of the wedding. She then said that clean up needed to happen the night of the wedding. Which was from 12am-1am. I then said, so the wedding is from 5pm-12am with a clean up time from 12am-1am and the wife agreed. The next morning my sister, her mother in-law and others were there at 8am to decorate and to their surprise there was no one there to let them in. My father called the owners and spoke with the husband and he said that HE did not agree to 8am. Long story short, they eventually were let in. During the reception there were other issues. They walked around like they were guest at the wedding. They would not let us serve our cold drinks behind the bar, nor would they give us ice to serve our cold drinks, NOT alcohol, but cold drinks. 9pm rolls around and we are being kicked out of the hall! Not because our guest were fighting or we were doing something illegal, but because the owners had been there since 8am and they were now ready to go! Luckily my father had his contract, which stated we had the hall until 1am and the owner (husband) brought out another paper which was NOT in my fathers contract that showed different times and said these were the times we needed to abide by! The officers who my father hired told my father that we could stay until 1am, but my father did not want anymore issues and decided we should leave and he would take them to court. While my father, the police and the owner (husband) were discussing the contract I pulled the wife to the side to talk to her about the times her and I had talked about the night before. The wife then claimed that she could not remember telling me that and she was confused! This is the worst case of professionalism I've ever witnessed and I would NOT recommend this place to anyone who is having an event in Hammond and is...

Everything started out great! Just make sure EVERYTHING is in the contract, and you remove everything immediately afterwards, even if he says you can pick it up later! My husband ask to leave our beautiful flowers board backdrop there to pick up later because he didn’t have his trailer with him on the day of the event. We went to pick it up and he said he had thrown it away. Than we find out that the board was there but not the flowers. I definitely don’t believe they were thrown away. Was really disappointed by the atmosphere, the pricing, and the general area we were only permitted to be in. I was looking forward to finally seeing the Hammond Event Center. But honestly I PERSONALLY wasn't impressed what so ever. Maybe it was just one of the days and we all have them in business that things aren't going the way they should/ or so we think. I hope I can post a better update in the near future because my partner has some friends that already booked months in advance.
