University Donuts — Restaurant in Hammond

So I waited 30 mins in the drive thru to finally place my order which is fine I don’t mind waiting. Finally I place my order and the young lady at the window tells me to pull into a parking spot so they can prepare my food. I do as she ask and I wait. About 15 mins later she walks out and hands me my food and she apologizes for the wait and I respond no it’s okay I understand. I get my food don’t think twice and go home. I get home and I only have half of my order. So I’m upset obviously because I paid to my entire order. I tried to call the place no answer so I decided to drive back up there. I get back to the drive thru and ask the young lady if she remembered me she said I think so I proceeded to tell her that she wasn’t the one who took my order it was another young lady. The young lady that took my order asks me what’s wrong I said you didn’t give me my full order you only gave me half. Instead of apologizing she proceeds to tell me oh yeah you left without it! I told her no ma’am you never gave it to me. Nor did she tell me I needed to wait another minute. She hands the other girl the rest of my order rolls her eyes and walks away. The other young lady at the window apologized...

Bought a dozen donuts at 11am and they were terrible.

FIRST of all there was so little sugar on the glazed that they looked like day old donuts from Walmart.

SECOND is that I could taste a burnt flavor in the actual donut.

Third is that the chocolate covered donuts was really odd because the chocolate was not secure on donut because it slid off the donut. I have never experienced this on a chocolate covered donut.

I called and talked to a female initially and she passed the phone to a male while complaining about my complaint. She pre determined me as being wrong. When the male got on phone and I started telling him the problem he preceded to tell me that he glazed the donuts himself. He asked me to bring them back but I was far away enough not wanting to go back. Never again will I buy from...

The staff are great and the donuts are good but the real jewel is that they serve a great breakfast and lunch and the prices are really reasonable. The coffee is also brewed well. They close by 1:30 p.m. so give them a try if you haven't or maybe a second visit if it's been awhile. I would guess that this started out as a donut shop and later added the cafe style diner simply because the name, "University Donuts" implies it, but I am glad they are here. I'm a fan of the bisquits and gravy with sausage. Only suggestion I can think of is maybe add in a little more sausage in the gravy but it ain't no deal killer....
