Asian Mart — Local services in Hampden Township

Whenever we need Korean, Japanese, or Thai ingredients, we head to Asia Mart near T.J. Maxx in the Gateway Square in Mechanicsburg. This small store is full of goodies.

Our favorites are home-made Korean Kimchi, Japanese Kewpie Mayonnaise, Japanese S&B Golden Curry Roux, various Thai Maesri Curry Pastes, Beech Mushrooms, Daikon Radishes, Japanese Nishiki Rice, and Japanese Daifuku mochi sweets. We usually end up buying a lot more!

If you are a fan of Asian noodles, you will find many choices here. Asia Mart stocks all kinds of Instant Ramens such as Korean Spicy Shin Ramyun and Japanese Sapporo Ichiban Tonkotsu (Pork Soup) Ramen. They also have many varieties of dry noodles such as Vietnamese Rice Noodles, Japanese Soba Noodles, and Chinese Noodles.

If you are cooking Asian dishes, it's most likely that you will find the sauces you need here. They stock many frozen food, as well.

Don't forget to check all the Asian sweets they have. Glico's Pocky sticks are always popular, while Hello Panda cookies and Yan Yan from local (York, PA) Meiji are great snacks for your children (and you). One of the most popular soft candies in Asia is Morinaga's Hi-Chew. You will find good varieties here.

We usually shop here on Thursdays (late afternoon) or during lunchtime on Fridays. On those days, Asia Mart usually has a fresh delivery of Korean / Japanese pastries such as Azuki-Bean Pastry, and Chestnut Pastry. They are so good!

I went to Chung Asian Market for the first time a few weeks ago and have been going almost once a week since.

This store is small, but don't let that fool you. It is packed to the brim with everything you could possibly look with regards to Asian cuisine.

The gentleman who ran the store was very polite, patient and knowledgeable. In casual conversation, he advised me they try to take great care to cater to Japanese and Korean interests.
