Today was my husband and I's FIRST TIME there. I requested to eat there for my birthday, but there's NO Million $ Steaks on Fridays, so we stopped in today, right at opening, because you know, we wanted to beat the lunch rush 😃
Let me tell y'all...this was HANDS DOWN the BEST cheesesteak we've both eaten locally. We got ours with the standard base of Cooper and onions, then added in mushrooms and sweet peppers...and even the sauce. YES SAUCE. The woman who HATES sauce on anything except pizza and pasta... this AMAZING HOMEMADE sauce was the perfect addition. Flavorful but not overbearing at all as with the "usual" restaurant sauces. It was pure cheesy, beefy goodness melting in our mouths. The roll was toasted to perfection and so fresh! We are VERY particular on cheesesteaks and are definitely glad we decided to come see what all the hype was about!
And AGAIN, the woman who decided years ago she HATES white pizza because NO OTHER pizza shop has been able to make one that doesn't taste like cardboard or something sitting under a heat lamp for days...decided to go ahead and give it a go...because I'm not gonna lie, that white pizza in that photo looked so damn good. I convinced my husband we had to give it a go and taste test it. Oh man, let me tell you, it was absolutely delicious. Soooo much so, that GASP! my husband even dared to say he thought it was BETTER than the cheesesteak! Only downfall was that it was all so filling that I never got the chance to try a zeppole, something I've never heard of but wanted to try as a birthday treat 😭
Amici delivered the quality 1000% today. It was a pleasure meeting you Vinny. Your personality and vibe made our first experience there all the more memorable! The fact that you took the time to come out and personally bring out our food spoke volumes. From a small local businesswoman, the personal touch and kindness is key and is always remembered by customers. The little things mean the most...
We will absolutely be back, and of course, rave to everyone we know about your place. Trust us, we know a LOT of people, so be ready for the extra orders...
Read moreExcellent food, wonderful staff, if you can't find something here that you don't absolutely love, then you don't like Italian food!
I've tried a few of their sandwiches and they are without a doubt some of the best I've ever eaten. I eat at Subway every so often, and an Amici's sub makes Subway taste close to dog food. Sorry, Subway, you're quick and inexpensive, but it's the truth.
For the amount of meat and toppings and the impeccable quality of the bread and the overall flavor, Amici's sandwiches are very well priced. They are so big that I sometimes eat only half and save the rest for dinner! In comparison, I almost always eat an entire Subway footlong in one sitting, no problem.
This review probably sounds like a shill, but I assure you I do not work for, nor personally know anyone at Amici's, they have simply impressed me that much. I come to this area every few months for work, and this is hands-down my favorite place to eat while here. I haven't even tried their pizza yet because their sandwiches are so gosh-darned good!
The atmosphere inside is nice, typical of mom-n-pop places all over the U.S. and the staff is just great, always so friendly and ready to answer any questions, make recommendations, etc.
Just so this review isn't super-sappy, I will say they do charge a buck for soda refills (a large glass,) but their prices are already so reasonable I don't even mind.
If you live in the area or are visiting and you haven't yet, you need to get out here and try this place, I promise you won't be...
Read moreMy father and I just came to town for the Carlisle Ford Nationals 50th anniversary. Him and I are both sort of pizza snobs so the whole drive here from Southeast Michigan, I was researching out different pizza places. Didn't find this place until we got our hotel room sorted out. Got settled into our room, called in and ordered a small special for my dad and a small pepperoni and extra cheese for myself.
5 to 5 out of five across the board. Both pizzas are ready in under 20 minutes, the service was fantastic, the atmosphere and the restaurant is great. In terms of actual pizza, the bread / dough they use is a bit thinner than the Midwest hand toss style that we are used to, a bit closer to New York which is awesome, 5 out of five for that. The sauce and the toppings? Absolute top notch. Dad's pizza was the special so I had sausage and they use the sliced sausage here which is way better than the crumbles. The toss is the perfect balance of sweet and savory with just the perfect pizza kick. And the cheese blend? It's perfect.
We were thinking about trying different restaurants every night here but the old man and I have already decided that we're probably going to stop there before we head back to Michigan and try out some strombolis and maybe bring them home to eat after that almost 10-hour drive.
Highly recommended if you are in the Harrisburg/mechanicsburg area. Looking forward to getting them again during this trip and maybe taking another trip here in the coming future if only for...
