Let me start this review by saying the food is delicious - I am fired up on pricing and the nickel and diming.
First of all their prices are high, but I always thought the food was worth it. Tonight I ordered online because that’s what the restaurant preferred (per the website).
I had selected “pick up ASAP” and for whatever reason it defaulted to tomorrow at 12:50 PM. I called and ask them to please move it up to today. Music was very loud when I called - had to shout into the phone for them to hear me, but nonetheless, was able to get it switched to my intended date and time. Fabulous, much appreciated, excited for a delicious pricy but in my mind at the time worth the price tag dinner.
There is $1.50 service fee because I ordered online, per their preference. I always tip, even on pick up orders, around 10%. All I’m around $7 in additional fees for my order.
I requested that mushrooms be substituted for broccoli in the dish. When I arrived to pick up my order, I was informed I owed $3.15 for the broccoli. Maybe I’m cheap or hangry, but I wasn’t aware the going rate to substitute a vegetable for another was $3.15. Furthermore, broccoli is actually CHEAPER than mushrooms which just adds gasoline on this Karen fire.
I understand inflation is ridiculous, restaurants have been under a lot of stress, but for the love of god $3.15 to substitute a vegetable?! Call me petty but this will definitely be the last time I pay to eat here again.
Sincerely - Petty Hangry Karen who prefers broccoli...
Read moreI stopped giving Bangkok Wok business. I used to be a HUGE fan. There were a handful of negative experiences out of the 20+ times I have gotten food. Panang curry was inconsistent depending on who cooked it. Sometimes it was exceptionally good! Other times it was bland or didn't taste up to normal standards. The last straw for me was how I called ahead for an order, arrived 25 minutes later, stood there for another 25 minutes after telling them I was there to pickup my order, I already paid at this point... Finally asked for the status of my order to find out they never sent the ticket back. I had to stand there for another 20 minutes until they cooked the order. Asked for the owner and this is what sealed the deal for me. After calling in an order and waiting there for about an hour in total, he wasn't willing to make it right by giving a discount..compensating the order.. nothing but telling me it was a mistake and apologizing verbally. I understand things happen but I didn't appreciate how the situation was handled being a loyal customer. I walked away after standing there for an hour after already calling in an order ahead, to be told "sorry". This was the owner I spoke to.... A good owner in my books should have offered to make up for such a lack of service. Perhaps even asking what he could do to make me happy, after dealing with such a poor experience. Just my thoughts and that means a lot in my books with any line...
Read moreDeliciousness in every dish but don’t go here if your in a hurry. And don’t try to place a takeout order in person. They get so confused by that. I ordered an appetizer to go (one which literally takes a minute to make) and they took 20 minutes to get it to me. I mean the service here has always been a little slow but it was a weekday, not busy and 6 staff people wandering around on the floor. Guess it didn’t help that 4 people pretended to take my order but didn’t ever place it. I don’t blame the kitchen. The front end workers need to get it together. Told the lady at checkout point that while 4 people asked what I wanted no one wrote anything down or appeared to complete the order. She was totally unconcerned and said, “yeah well I guess we’ll see if someone comes back with your food and then we’ll know if they took your order” and walked away. I learned that an apathetic, teen angst attitude is very ill worn by a woman over 40. Anyway, I want to come back because the food is good and I like the atmosphere, but there’s also other Thai places in the area I haven’t tried yet. Maybe...
