Mountz Jewelers - Camp Hill — Local services in Hampden Township

So I have been going to Mountz in Camp Hill since my fiancé and I started dating 6 years ago. Whenever I go to get her jewelry it’s my first stop! But I have to give a huge thank you and amazing praise for two specific employees! Jessica McVicker and Jake (I feel terrible about not knowing his last name!). Jessica greeted me very warmly when I entered the store in 2017 looking for engagement rings for my then girlfriend now fiancé. She showed me a bunch of rings that were amazing but not the one for my girlfriend. She then mentioned that they would always custom design a ring and that is what we ended up doing. She asked me questions about if I had some ideas and I did. She took the ideas and wrote them down and said she would give them to Jake (he is a masterful designer!) and he would email me some sketches in a few days. A few days go buy and he emails me the perfects sketches of what I had envisioned my fiancé’s ring to look like when I was talking with Jessica! I went back to the store and met with Jessica again to get the steps going forward with the design process. Jessica helped me with every step, the band materials and size, the perfect diamond for the center piece, everything! She was very patient and understanding with me who has never really shopped for or designed jewelry before! After all that Jake designers the ring perfectly and it came out wonderful! It took my breath away seeing it after it was made and my fiancé was speechless after I proposed and she saw the ring in better light! Her whole family and friends were also speechless and it couldn’t have happened with Jessica and Jake. Then when it came time to look for wedding bands we both immediately thought of Jake and Jessica! They were glad to help us with designing them as well! Jake did another masterful job of designing my fiancé’s wedding bands to fit with her custom engagement ring! Jessica also helped to order a designed wedding band for myself as well.

I spent considerable time researching diamond cuts, quality ratings, etc. as well as white gold engagement bands online and visited a few businesses only to receive the typical sales pitch & walk over to a case of up-charged rings. I was very uncomfortable.

I was fortunate to be recommended to Jake McCaleb in Camp Hill by a friend of mine who said he wished he knew Jake back when he proposed to his wife — and connecting with him was the best decision I ever made.

Jake talked to me, learned what I already knew, figured out what I wanted/needed to know, and educated me in a way that made me not only more comfortable and created a friendly rapport, but confident in my decisions. I gave my budget up front, and there was no sales-pitch or talk of up-charges whatsoever. It was straight-talk to get me exactly what I wanted. With Jake’s help, I designed the perfect engagement ring for my now-fiancé for only hundreds over the price of a manufactured ring online that was similar but lacking the truly unique qualities (and the MFG ring had a lesser quality main stone!). Can’t beat that!

I enjoyed the experience so much that my fiancé and I returned to Jake for our wedding bands. Nicole found a manufactured option that could be modified slightly to fit perfectly with her custom ring...and I ultimately decided to custom design my own wedding band. I started from scratch only having knowledge around engagement rings, and nothing about what men rings could be, but we created a true art piece. Again, the cost we negotiated was absolutely fantastic for the care Jake puts into his work and the quality he achieved for my fiancé and I.

My boyfriend and I went to Mountz Jewelers to get a custom engagement ring designed. We met with Jake for an initial consultation and he seemed to listen to what we wanted, and set expectations for us on what the process would look like moving forward. That was our only positive experience. We had our initial consultation on a Saturday, and were told that we would receive our first digital mock up of the ring on Monday. An entire week passed and we heard nothing. No communication. We went into the store the next Saturday but weren't able to speak with him as he was with a client. We sent him a text inquiring on the status of our mock up. He told us he was really busy that week and would work on it later that day. Tuesday of the next week came and we finally got the mock up. We definitely were not pleased with communication or the level of customer service, and felt like we were not important at all. I gave my feedback on the ring and asked questions. My questions were not answered and getting a response took over 24hrs. I no longer wanted to continue the process of getting a custom ring designed from Mountz Jewelers, because not only was something so important to my boyfriend and I not shown the same level of care, but he seemed to forget details of the ring we had discussed in the beginning. I was hoping to have a wonderful experience like others, but was only left disappointed that we were not awarded the same level of care and attention. I hope others have a better experience...
