Our family loves Tropical Smoothie Café.

But this particular location is the worst one around.

We’ll probably keep coming back because it’s the most convenient one near us. It’s a little like dating someone who’s cute and nearby but chronically forgets your birthday. You know you deserve better, but here you are. Again.

Let’s start with the inventory roulette: you never know if the straws or lids will actually fit your smoothie.

Also, what is going on with the napkin hostage situation. They act like those paper squares are hand-pressed sheets of Egyptian cotton. Better ask nicely and hope the napkin gods are feeling generous.

The pineapple is canned. Every other location has fresh pineapple like the app says, but for some reason not this one. Sometimes everything is fantastic but other times the fruit they use is obviously past ripe. They also make substitutions when out of particular fruits without notifying or asking. This has happened more than once to us.

I’ve had smoothies that were so thin, they were practically juice in denial. My kids took one sip, frowned like Victorian ghosts, and set them down like, “I’m good, thanks.” Other times, the smoothies are so chunky I’m pretty sure I accidentally ordered a fruit stew.

It’s not that the staff isn’t trying. they’re often sweet. But something behind the scenes just isn’t smoothie-ing smoothly.

All in all this place is like the fast-food version of a chaotic neutral D&D character: unpredictable, occasionally delightful, and always a little messy. Will we be back? Yes. Should we? Probably not.

Tropical Smoothie of camp hill- take a lesson from Hershey or strawberry square and, please be better. We...

Came for lunch and was asked if I was there to pick up food. I said no. I received no greeting or anything, but an employee who was visibly annoyed barged past me, saying "I'm locking the door." When she came back she did not say hello or even acknowledge my existence despite walking right past me. Do you really think this is an appropriate way to greet customers? There is no sign on the door stating your dining room is closed, and yet they act like as a customer you are unwelcome. The dining room is a mess, with dirty tables and boxes everywhere. On top of all this, the prices on the signs above the register do not reflect the actual food prices, which are higher. When my total came out higher than expected based on the posted prices, I asked why it was so high. I pointed at their prices next to their menu items, and was told "oh those are not our prices." Okay....so what are they?? The woman who took my order expected me to pay without telling me what the actual prices of the items I ordered were. I had to ask more than once to get an answer. I left with okay food, and won't be coming back. To management: Do not respond asking for more details, as you have all the necessary information to make changes. Update your posted prices, clean up your dining room, and train your staff appropriately to be friendly and welcoming. Post appropriate signage if necessary. Customer...

Usually I am so happy with the service and the friendliness of the staff here. Unfortunately that was not the case this time around and I will not be returning. When I pulled up to the window I was shocked to be greeted by an employee with no mask AND no gloves on. I even had a mask on. I was hoping it would prompt her to put hers on out of respect, but no. I then see that the worker making my smoothies was not wearing a mask OR gloves either... this is really not ok at all. After the woman at the window took my payment she went over to where the other worker was making the smoothies and they just talked until they were ready.... and even after they were ready. My smoothies were held by the cashier for at least 3 minutes after being finished- so she could finish her conversation. At that point I didn’t even want the smoothies anymore due to the no masks and no gloves being worn. Every time I have been here recently I have been greeted nicely by the owner wearing a mask and gloves and usually they are so careful. I will not be returning and for the sake of the health and safely of themselves and their guests; I suggest following the guidelines of mask and...

The cafe is in a standalone building but for some reason I've always had trouble locating the driveway. Maybe they need to improve on the signage. Anyway, I've visited this place a couple of times and had tried their smoothies and and lunch items. Their main focus is obviously the smoothie. The first one I tried was the Avocolada. It's way too sweet for me. So the next time I made it a point to look at the labels and picked one with lower calories. Acai Berry Boost was a much better experience for me. We've also tried their flatbreads. The Chicken Bacon Ranch was excellent. My son also liked their Chipotle Chicken Club. Flatbreads come with a free side. I highly recommend their Kale & Apple Slaws. The portion could be a bit bigger for lunch but I guess it's reasonable with the lower price tag than a typical lunch menu. Service is on par. One lady was so sweet that after knowing that I've waited for so long just to pick up a smoothie, she gave me an edible straw. That was a nice gesture.
