Very confusing receipts. Posted sale sign says 2/$5.00. I bought 2, but two different flavors. Each should be $2.50 totaling $5.00. Here's what my receipt looked like. 2 @ $8.58 - $4.29 and then again 2 @ 8.58 - $4.29. Now when you add $4.29 + 4.29 = 8.58. On another line it shows a discount labeled as a savings of $1.79 twice, totaling $3.58. Now subtract 8.58 - 3.58 = $5. My freaking word.
Why not just receipt it as first flavor 2/5 1 @ 2.50 and the second flavor 2/5 1 @ 2.50. Add the two together you get $5 without customer confusion and no customer distrust.
Come on Food Lion, I don't need the confusion or the feeling that I'm being scammed. I went home and came back just to have your confusion explained to me. That cost me a gallon of gas and an hour of my time. Furthermore, another item receipted just as confusing was priced on the shelf as $.89. My receipt showed I was charged $.99. Same scenario, bought 2 @ $.89 ea. My receipt showed 2 @ $1.99 or 3.98 minus a discount or savings as FoodLion puts it of $2 = $1.99. This means I was charged $.99 each. The sign posted said $.89. There was no sale for buying two. It was advertised ea, single, not 2/1.99. Why the confusion?
I got ripped off by FoodLion. A whole .10. They offered to make it right, but only after I spent an hour and a gallon of gas returning to the store. They didn't call me. Because I was not intimidated by their relentless attempt to make it too difficult for the consumer to understand their mess. How many other ripoffs are going undetected by intimidation, confusion, and purposely making it ridiculously complicated.
Otherwise, the store employees took good care of me and explained it well. But they shouldn't need to as the receipt should be much easier to comprehend. 2/5 means the receipt states the same 2/5, but because I mixed instead of matching flavors it would be ok to Express it as 2/5 1 @ 2.50 2/50 1 @ 2.50. Did I go slow enough FoodLion? Did I explain it in enough depth? Should I go...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFriendly associates, great produce, decent meat selection, and clean store. Although, there is no fresh fish/seafood or meat case. They have frozen bags of fish filets, and that's about it. Even that was just a small freezer bunker selection. The meat selection is pre-packaged "fresh" meat, and many times I've been, they have had no filet mignon and no ribeye. It's a bit frustrating to have to go to multiple stores to find the meats I need, but other than that, I do enjoy the overall cleanliness of the place. Although, regarding the packaged meat case, the associates do need to do a better job checking the products throughout their shifts, as the last 2 times I've gone in, multiple packages of sealed meats either had broken vacuum seals, expired meats, or both. I handed an employee 3 packages once that had broken seals and she gave me a dirty look and huffed in annoyance. I was trying to be nice by taking them off the shelf and handing them to someone rather than letting a customer take that home unknowingly and eat it, getting sick and suing. My bad man.
Overall though, nice place to shop and quick and easy to get in and out without long lines like other...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreDisappointing service. Had 20 items (didn't realize this until after "the challenge"). I looked at the cashier signs and decided to get in the least populated line. The sign said "Express - about 12 items." I knew I had more, but not a great deal more. A lady with 3 items walked up and I invited her to go ahead since she had less than me. While ringing her up, the cashier asked about the amount of groceries I had. I told her I took the sign to mean around 12 items. If I had a cart full, I would see her point, but I didn't. She explained that "about 12" meant 12 or less. If it does, change the sign. I asked if I needed to move and she told me no since I already had my items on the belt. I also had no one behind me. Wasn't very pleased with being called out. End of rant. I shop at Food Lion all the time. Never experienced this which is the positive part of...
