IDA AFRICAIN HAIR BRAIDING — Local services in Hampton

Unfortunately I am leaving this review with no service had been done. The reason behind that is I reached out to Ida to inquire about the pricing for a ginger Fulani flip braids mid back length originally. I told her I’m on a budget and need to know prices for that length with human and synthetic hair. She provided the pricing. I stated I would get back to her to speak with my husband. She proceeded to laugh via text message. Now I am going through postpartum and my husband offered to pay for my hair because I was unhappy and needed a change to keep my hair from falling out due to my postpartum journey. That didn’t sit well with me that she laughed about that instead of being understanding. I reached back out because I needed to know if the price would decrease if I got a Fulani flip bob instead. Same color. She basically danced around my question and never gave me a price. Saying it depends on the hair. So I stated give me prices for both. I have to budget it out if I’m going to get as soon as I want it. Well needless to say Ida chose not to respond. So therefore I cut my hair off. If someone is seriously inquiring about a service please be professional and understanding. I’m not saying don’t go to her her work seems amazing. This is just the experience I had reaching out to her. Hopefully no one else has that experience. For now I will rock a short look until I have enough hair to braid and I may bring her...

This is my first and last experience unfortunately. Ms. Ida ensured me that my hair was long enough to be braided and that she could do my hair easy (she seemed even insulted i wanted to check to see if my hair was too short) we set an appointment for 10am the following day and she was 30 minutes late. I figured she was out getting hair but she went to get coffee. Halfway into the service i already know I’m either going to loose my hair (she braids so tight and heavy) or have to shave it off and start over again. She leaves to go get hair and stops multiple times to talk to people or be on the phone.

Fast forward 9 hours later, there are no parts in my head, all I see is scalp, my middle part is nonexistent, my hair is sticking out some braids, the braids are heavy and stiff. I can’t even lay down to sleep my head hurts so much. I wasn’t gonna leave a review because I knew I should’ve just left after the first braid but after seeing my hair coming out of the braids when she spent 9hours swearing up and down that she knew what she was doing and that my braids were gonna last at least till December I just felt like those trying her for the first time should know.

This is on me, I should’ve spoke up and walked out as soon as it started but I know for sure when I get through this I will not...

I received the worst customer service from this business. I called last Friday to schedule an appointment for blowout and twist. I was scheduled for Satin at 230pm. I got to the location and couldn’t find the shop so I called for directions, during the phone call, I was told I didn’t confirm my appointment during the week which I do not understand. As the main reason for the first phone call was to set an appointment and also I was given a date and time. They informed me they had another customer and would call me afterwards; since I had driven 25minutes for the appointment, I stayed at a coffee shop nearby and waited for the phone call. After 2.30 hours I sent a text to see if they would be able to get with me that day or not. I sat there an hour for no response so at 5pm I drove another 25minutes home.

They sent me a message at 6pm to see if I still wanted my hair done when they closed at 730 pm. I informed them that I scheduled my appointment somewhere else. All I got from them was a thank you. No form of apology for the time wasted. Very unprofessional ....
