After dealing with one lady who was very strick about what she had to say and acusing me yelling at her when she was not why my voice was raised. She was a very unpleasent person I would not want to talk with. I drove al the way to friend me a white cat and was turn down because I have a small dog. In there message it was left that the cat has been around another dog and the person said it wasn't eating. I personally have trained cats and dogs for many years and been very successful everytime. I understood that it was to try all homes out to see that each home would be the right place for each animal. So in other words I was not offered to take the cat home to give me a chance to show what I can do to help this poor white cat from being stressful. If this cat was in the wild he would never be able to help hisself out in that kind of situation. But there was another lady there who was kind and sweet to the touch of any given situation but never on the first lady I talked to. She made it very clear Snow wasn't going anywhere. To be honest In the customer service was extremely poor. What my time and money wasn't good because of the lady customer service she has none. Sorry for the rating but I as any person have the right to buy on a satisfly bases just like anyone else. If not why was the cat out for sale just like the others and advertise for sale. I was dressed and a clean person to enter there little store and was not asked if I wanted to come in to look. I did all the asking. But this lady was sitting down like on her brake and started asking me alot of questions and made her decision right on the spot. I asked to go in but their was a hesitation from her and she never got up to welcome me into The Cat Conner. So I open the door and walk in. I stop two women and had to ask where is the cat I was looking for and advertised. Then it wasn't that long where the rude lady came in and was ignoring me and trying to fit me into some other cat. As I had said in the degining she was the one that made up her mind not to let snow go under any circumstances. All do respect they really need to shut this tiny place down and get real professionals in there to handle this situation and up to date. It looks like a little house on the conner with two many cats to be handled and no up to the animal sociality standards and unsafe from customers to setp up and down without real warning or posters for somebody will fall down and get hurt on those cement floors. Besides I know for myself personally there shoulden't be a cememt step to walk inside an slip and fall on. The last thing I have to say is those who spoke to me showed 100% feelings that these are there cats not the town in which they were hired to sale the cats in good faith. Everyone knows it is hard enough to find a white male cat as it is. So to rate this place I would have zero to none chance of ever getting...
Read moreMy live-in girlfriend lost a cat 6 months ago that she deeply loved. She had him for 20 years, so it took a while for her to feel ready to adopt again. Finally, the week before her birthday, we visited Cat Corner...
We were greeted by a friendly volunteer who asked us questions related to our home and the conditions under which we’d be caring for a cat. We have a dog, so it was important to find a cat who would be compatible. She was knowledgeable and seemed to have a great feel for the personalities and needs of the cats at Cat Corner. We were inroduced to 5 cats that were determined to be a good fit and given time to bond with each. My girlfriend and I were quite pleased up to this point.
After about 40 minutes of connecting with the reportedly available and compatible cats and kittens, the manager who processes applications arrived. She announced in a curiously loud and controlling manner that 4 of the 5 cats we’d been introduced to were actually NOT available. We had clearly stated that we were only interested in getting one cat, but the manager decided they would only be adoptable in pairs. My girlfriend and I were both a bit irritated, but still decided to apply for the remaining cat, who was sweet and affectionate with my girlfriend and I.
As we were applying, the manager made some surprisingly inappropriate remarks in our presence related to the manner in which a young girl was playing with the cats, and how she therefore intended to deny the family’s application. She clearly relishes her position of control over the cats at Cat Corner. She then reviewed our application, told us we were pre-approved, were “99% certain to get her”, and told us to expect a phone call Monday. My girlfriend and I were happy and excited about the prospect of having a new cat in time for her birthday.
Monday passed and we didn’t hear anything, so we waited a few days and followed up. We were told they were taking care of a few more things with the application but would hear from them shortly. So, again, we waited... However, when we didn’t hear back and called a second time to follow up, we were informed by the manager that the cat also “probably” needed to be adopted as a pair, but that we’d hear back soon. My girlfriend’s birthday had passed by this point. Yet again, no response... when we called back a 3rd time, we were told to expect a call the next day. The next day passed without a return call. Finally, on the 4th attempt, we were told the cat had been adopted to someone else. We would never recommend Cat Corner to anyone. The volunteers at cat Corner are great. The woman in charge,...
Read moreThis happened a few months ago but it still upsets me to think about so I decided to write a review.
My neighbor takes care of stray cats around his house. A few months back, there were two kittens that were living under his porch along with their stray mother. My sister and I visited the cats everyday and bonded with them, gave them names, etc and decided that we would give them a home. My neighbor had been working with The Cat Corner to make sure the kittens were safe, so we asked him to let them know that there were two sisters interested in giving the kittens a home. We didn’t want to just take them off the street because we were told they needed medical care and we believed the cat rescue was helping make sure they were okay. Along with a note with our names and numbers, we sent a very polite email offering to pay any medical fees that the cats might have needed and again expressed our interest in bringing them home when they were ready.
I recognized that even though these were stray cats and I could have just picked them up whenever I wanted, that the rescue might have wanted us to still go through adoption process, which we offered to go through in our email. This was a mistake, and also when I learned that rescues like the Cat Corner believe they are superior cat owners and deny loving homes for any less than perfect candidate in their own opinion.
One day when we went to visit the kittens, we saw the Cat Corner had picked them up. So we called to follow up with how they were doing. We had to call 5 or 6 times for someone to pick up. When they did, they were incredibly rude and claimed they had no idea what cats we were talking about, any kittens they picked up wouldn’t be ready for adoption in at least 7 weeks and even if they were, they were going to give the cats to “whoever they think bonded the best” with them. This infuriated me and made me feel like these kittens were stolen from us. They knew that they were not going to give us a chance with the kittens, but decided not to say anything to my neighbor (who had given them a note on our behalf) until they got them in their possession. I read further that the adoption age minimum is 25 so we wouldn’t even be considered. My boyfriend and I are 23, with college degrees and own our own home. A 25 age requirement has no merit.
Rescues like these taught me to always look at shelters like the SPCA, who will not deny loving families for silly reasons. I’m sure there are some wonderful volunteers here, so I can only speak from my experience with Kathy, who seemed to be a higher up.
I truly hope Waffle and Randy end up in...
