Avoid Pet Medical Center in Harker Heights, TX – A Cautionary Tale
I feel it’s important to share my experience at Pet Medical Center to caution others who are looking for a new vet. Unfortunately, this is not the place for your pet, especially if you're looking for competent care and responsibility.
Last year, PMC performed two separate knee surgeries on my dog. The first surgery was supposed to repair a torn CCL, but it was botched. I had to pay for a second surgery to correct the first one, only to have the second surgery go wrong as well.
My dog, who is only four years old and should be in the prime of her life, is now crippled and no better off than she was before the surgeries. Both procedures were performed at great cost to me, and I trusted them to help, not harm her.
To make matters worse, upon review by another clinic, I was told that my dog will now require two additional surgeries to repair the damage done by PMC, at an additional cost of $12,000-$15,000. This is a heartbreaking situation, all because of their incompetence.
PMC informed me they are no longer performing these surgeries and have basically attempted to wash their hands of the situation. I was told "tough luck," and given a Termination of Service letter; there was no genuine effort to make things right. It is an absolute shame that you have to resort to legal matters in order to get people to do what is right these days.
I cannot recommend this veterinary practice to anyone. If you care about your pet's well-being, please...
Read moreI highly recommend this veterinary hospital. Because my dog, Bear, is extremely nervous and can seem aggressive towards strangers, I was worried how the first appointment would go (last year). Dr. Ayala and her wonderful technician, Amanda took the time to help Bear to be more familiar with them, approaching him slowly, and giving him treats before and during the treatment. I am very grateful that they take extra steps to help nervous patients feel more comfortable than resorting to a muzzle right away (unless needed), which causes more of a positive experience for any patient.
I took Bear in yesterday because he got sick again. As always, the receptionist picking up the phone was very friendly and had great phone etiquette. Tabitha, the technician was very sweet and was understanding that Bear needed to warm up to her. After the appointment, my furry boy seemed to be a lot less stressed than I expected. He also seems to be feeling a lot better today!
I wanted to thank Dr. Ayala for giving thorough explanations and also getting my input about recommended treatments instead doing it without permission. If your pet is not feeling well and if you want him/her to be in good care, don't hesitate to go to Pet Medical Center! You will not only be advised absolutely necessary treatment but your furry pet will be showered with lots of love as well! All the staff and doctors I spoke with/greeted are very warm and welcoming. I feel very blessed to have found Pet Medical Center. Thank...
Read moreWe have just moved to the area recently and have been having increasing issues with our 2-year-old Damon who has severe separation anxiety, without going into too much detail, my husband cannot leave Damon's sight without him basically going belligerent. We needed to figure out something so that we can work with our boy as my husband will be starting a new job soon and has to leave me with him for 12+ hours. Stacie was our vet tech during our visit and she was so sweet to Damon, gave him some peanut butter and really worked to get him as comfortable as possible for his visit, she sat with us for a good while and asked us a whole bunch of questions so that Dr. Ayala could best understand how to help us. Speaking of Dr. Ayala, we were very pleased with her as well. One thing we have never had with a vet visit was that much time spent on us in one visit, Dr. Ayala sat with us for a good amount of time just talking about Damon and his behaviors, really just wanted to get an understanding of what was going on with him and figure out some good solutions and recommended a behaviorist and a group of trainers as well. Even the front desk lady was just such a sweetheart. We are very excited that we decided to go with this place, you know how difficult it can be to find a great veterinarian for your babies, but I feel confident this place will be great for Damon and our...
