I will never use these people; this situation happened a few months ago. A coworker recommended the Belk Salon for me to get my hair and makeup done for my wedding. I called and was told that only 2 people could do both hair and makeup--Katie and Hayley. Katie was out until the following week, but Hayley was available for a consultation the following day. After I explained what I needed, the date of my wedding, etc. the girl at the front desk said it would be best if I came in for an in person consultation. Since this is for my wedding, I had no issues with that. I live out in the sticks--45 minutes from Hattiesburg, but it's important to get the details right for this..obviously. The day of my consultation, I get a call from Hayley an hour before my scheduled appointment time saying that she had finished her previous appointment early and asked if I could come a little before my appointment time. I agreed and arrived at my appointment 15 minutes early where within 90 seconds of being there, I was told by Hayley that she can't do my hair and makeup for that date. I looked around and asked, "okay so what am I supposed to do now?" She responded, "well, you can call around to some other salons." I was livid. I explained that I had driven 45 minutes to what I was told had to be an "in person" consultation. She only could seem to suck her breath through her teeth and just say, "Sorry..." and did not even remotely try to come up with a solution other than to tell me to go to another salon. She didn't even have any suggestions for anywhere I might try and did not seem to care that the salon she works out would lose out on my business. (She seriously needs to work on her people skills.) I told her that I couldn't even be fully mad at her, because the front desk should have asked her if she was available for that date before making me come up there in person. Her only response was, "well it's a big salon..." I honestly thought she knew my date. It would have been nothing for her to ask me over the phone when she called in the first place to ask if I could come early. She finally walked away after we were getting nowhere, and I turned to the girl at the front desk who looked mortified. I was shaking at this point, and asked for a manager; was told the manager was on vacation. I told her the same thing, which was that someone should have at least told Hayley my wedding date, so it's not her fully her fault. (Again, despite her serious lack of people skills.) At this point, I didn't think I wanted to use the salon, but my coworker had originally recommended Katie, so I asked if someone could ask her. (And give her all the details) and get back to me. The girl said she wouldn't be back for a while, and she could look into other people and I could get my makeup done at the mac counter. I told her I didn't want to do have my makeup done at the mac counter, and if I could have it done by just one person that would be preferable. Still, I appreciated that she put in some actual effort to mitigate the situation, and I left a little less angry. When I got home--another 45 minutes later--I had a missed call and a voicemail from the front desk girl. She said she talked to a hairstylist who could do my hair and I could get my make up done at the mac counter. Again, not what I wanted, but I appreciated the effort. Then she said, "It's all set for your wedding date on Sunday, October 30th." That's not my wedding date. So, I called the corporate line and told them what happened, and they were also supremely unhelpful. The whole ordeal left a bad taste in my mouth. I would not recommend using this place--if for nothing else then the fact that they are unorganized and...

Ā Ā Ā Read moreI arrived 30 minutes early for my appointment, wasnāt called back until an hour and 15 minutes later. Was told she was running behind. I get to her chair, she asked what I wanted done. I told her my bangs cut again because my hair has been one length for a while, the back cut in layers and the top cut short enough that I could use a curling iron on it, even told her if she had to do something similar to a mullet, Iād be ok with it since my hair is nearly halfway down my back. I ended up with a 1/2 to 3-4ā strip of bangs on one side of my head, no layers and nothing done to the top. In the hour and 15 minutes I sat in her chair, All she did was cut the ābangsā and trim an inch off all ends. She said that due to a non-existent cowlick she couldnāt do bangs, after she cut one side, and proceeded to leave the other side alone. Very disappointed, most likely wonāt...
