I ONLY RATED THIS 1 STAR BECAUSE I COULD NOT GIVE IT 0!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WASTE OF $4000
DO NOT PURCHASE A DIAMOND FROM KAY JEWELERS!!!!!!!!! My husband purchased an engagement ring as well as a wedding band from Kay Jewelers. He also purchased the extended warranty to cover any damage that may occur. I recently went into the TURTLE CREEK MALL LOCATION IN HATTIESBURG MS for a routine cleaning as well as an inspection of the diamond. Immediately, the sales associate said you have a really bad chip in your diamond and it needs to be replaced. Upon noticing the chip, the sales associate informed me that she couldn’t do anything to the diamond because of the chip. She said that it would be covered if I were up to date on my inspections. I knew that I was not up to date on my inspections because the last inspection I had was in 2013. Because I was not up to date on my inspection, she informed me that the cost of repairing my ring would be around $2000 out of pocket and that my extended warranty would be null and void. This was all new to my husband and I because we were not informed that if we were not up to date on the inspections that the diamond warranty would expire and our extended warranty would be null and void. After leaving the store, I called Kay Jewelers corporate office and spoke with several representatives, finally speaking with a supervisor named Shanna Sailor. I informed Shanna that we were not informed by the staff at our local Kay Jewelers of this policy when we purchased the rings and that we should not be held liable for the gross negligence of their staff. She informed us that although she was sorry for our inconvenience, she had documentation that we were informed of the policy. I asked her to fax me the documentation. After hanging up the phone, I reviewed the fax. The so-called DOCUMENTATION was my husband's signature, not for acknowledgment that the diamond warranty was received and explained but for acknowledgement of the return policy and card issuer agreement to pay. After reviewing these documents, I called the corporate office back (not 2 minutes later) and staff members stated that Shanna was in but could not be reached. I continued to call and was finally sent to her voicemail where I explain that the documentation that she sent me only confirmed that we agreed to pay the cost of the ring and understood the return policy. Needless to say I have not received a...
Read moreI would recommend kays to anyone. I have 5 pieces from them and just bought my mother a necklace for Christmas and his dad a pocket watch from them. All my jewelry has the extended warranty on it. When you get your extended warranty on any piece of jewelry they give you a paper that explains how to properly care for it, which also explains what months you have to get them inspected and tells you that you can take them in at anytime to have them cleaned. I find ever 6 months is fine with the cleaning for me, but some people may have to take them in more depending on the wear and use of their jewelry...
The girl that claimed she didn't know should have read her papers on it, and if the guy that got it for her didn't give her the proper papers on it failed on his part, especially if they were to get married... always ask questions about things if you don't understand it, because to pay for extended warranty a lot of places have guidelines to go by in order to keep the paperwork...
Read moreCustomer service was fine, but there's a lack of communication. I took my solitaire ring in looking for a second band. When I couldn't get the look I was wanting, a ring enhancer was suggested. After sending off twice with TWO different enhancers and my ring being gone about a month total, my solitaire came back sized from a 7.5 to a 10!! I specifically made it clear that I didn't want my ring sized up bc I may choose to wear it by itself. Instead of communicating to me that's the only way to fit the enhancer, the decision was made without my knowledge. In the end, I canceled my purchase of enhancer and took back my solitaire. I had to take it back to Parris Jewelers to be resized since they were the ones who originally made it. This will cost ME, NOT KAY'S, about $200. I feel like I should have been told my ring would have to be sized, so that I could have gone in a different direction. VERY POOR communication on the...
