Southwest Theaters Turtle Creek 9 — Local services in Hattiesburg

We have been going to this theater for a few years. Nothing but the best was to be said before this past Saturday night, 4/6/2019. The ease of picking your own seats is amazing...love this. However, this was not our issue. We got in our seats, both my seat and the person next to me had issues with our seat controls. We should have went and tried to exchange them but didn't want to be a bother at the time. I wanted to lean back and if the people in front of you prefer not to lean back then you'll be looking at the tops of their head during the entire movie. Very annoying. Also, the ladies bathroom on this particular night was DISGUSTING!!! There was no paper towels in any of the receptacles to dry your hands. Floor was sticky and smelled of urine. Pubic hair on several toilet seats. The actual toilets looked as if they hadn't been cleaned in a month. This theater has potential and was awesome when it was first opened and I really hate to see it go down. We went to the late movie so maybe all the workers were tired and weren't cleaning that late, who knows but I was disappointed over the nasty bathroom. That's an area that needs to be checked regularly. We will try it again but not...

I took my niece here to watch the Barbie movie July 26. I had an appointment at the dmv & I live an hour away so I checked movie times the night before & planned the day. The website said the movie started at 340 pm so we arrived at approximately 330 pm. When we walked into the theater it was clean & seemed nice. I especially liked that there were a few different meal combos they offered & they weren’t too expensive. I mean expensive but typical movie theater expensive. This was my nieces first time at a theater, she’s 5 & she was so excited to be there.. unfortunately we were behind a group of a few people who were not happy about their movie not starting for almost 2 hrs. It was the Barbie movie that was suppose to begin at 340 pm, they too had made their plans the night prior. The worker could not tell us why the movie times were changed literally overnight. He just said the next showing wasn’t until 520 pm. All of us left to go to different theaters.. For anyone considering going to this theater, I would just suggest that you check showtimes day of attending so you don’t run into the same issue. I’ll give it another try at some...

The premium seating drew us to choose this place over the other theater in town, but I think that they've changed the oil they make the popcorn with. It was fairly busy when we went, and we had to wait for the popcorn machine to pop the corn, so it was obviously fresh... However, my wife and I agreed that it just didn't have that, "movie theater popcorn," flavor, and we ended up leaving half the bag uneaten. The reason I think they may have changed oils, is that the theater also lacked that ubiquitous, "movie popcorn smell." We typically wait for movies to become available to rent at home, so it takes a really appealing movie PLUS the indulgence of movie theater popcorn to bring us in, and not getting that sort of soured the entire experience. I suppose it could have been a one-off bad-batch, but I see us trying the other theater in town before risking another disappointing experience.
