I purchased a dining room set (table and 4 chairs) on a Friday. I was told itâd be delivered to the store on the following Monday. So I get to the store on Monday, and itâs not there. They called the warehouse to check the status of it, and Iâm not sure what the salesperson was told. BUT... instead of asking me if Iâm willing to wait on it to come from the warehouse, they said they could give me the floor set (model). So I took it. I was on my lunch break, and had to get back to work so I loaded it up and left. They never offered a discount of any sort, being that itâs considered âused.â
The following day, Tuesday, I called to speak to the manager to discuss getting a discount since I was given a used dining room set. The manager told me that I got a good deal because it was already assembled, and they charge $25 for assembly. This is irrelevant, because I didnât ask them to assemble my new set that wouldâve been coming in. I couldâve done that for FREE on my own accord. So I told him that itâs unfair that I wasnât given a discount because that set is used, since people have been touching and sitting on it while itâs been in the store. He told me that itâd only been there 3 days, and once again repeated they charge $25 for assembly. Idk why he kept reiterating that irrelevant fact. He also told me it was nearly $100 cheaper than the original price, which is also irrelevant. The price itâs set at, at the time of purchase is my only concern.
Iâm extremely upset, because I paid full price for a used set thatâs been on the floor for however long. I highly doubt itâd been only 3 days, but even so... itâs still used. You would think they wouldâve given me the common decency to offer a discount, or give one after being asked. If the manager had said, if youâd asked when picking up... we may have been able to give you a discount. I wouldâve respected that. But to try to give every excuse in the book why I should accept the horrible and unfair service/deal I received, is so disrespectful. I will never purchase from them again. The location on Hardy Street near downtown was friendlier, but this location is beside Rainforest Car Wash on Hwy 98. Things may have been different if I had went to that...
Read moreUpdate: I took the damaged piece apart and made a quality repair. It's apparent that I was either given the original damaged piece back as is, or two screws were added in a poor effort to repair the couch. This place is a joke.
This was my first furniture purchase from Furniture Direct. My initial buying experience was pleasant. I made my purchase through the Laurel store. I considered our purchase to be substantial - two love seats, one matching couch, and a king sized headboard/footboard combination. The delivery folks were courteous. One of the love seats had a damaged/floppy center upright piece that needed to be repaired or replaced. Reporting this to the store was not an issue. However, it has taken months to get the replacement piece returned and installed (early March until July 5th). Furniture Direct does not track warranty repairs (apparently) and does not initiate phone calls to their customer to keep them in the loop. Over the course of months, we were promised many things that never took place. But the most basic issue revolved around the employees of Furniture Direct not being true to their word. Many times I was promised (by different individuals) that they would call me back that day or the following day. On nearly every occasion (guessing 20 times over the months), I had to call/re-engage to find out the next step. I was told several times that the replacement piece was in the warehouse and "I put my eyes on it" to later be told that "it's not here." In fact, two deliveries were scheduled but never occurred. For one of those scheduled deliveries, I was left in the dark. No communication whatsoever. As I sit here now, the piece has been replaced but is wiggling and obviously not like our other identical love seat. But I've chosen to fix it myself rather than endure the incompetency exhibited by Furniture Direct any further. PS - there wasn't an option for zero stars or else I would have...
Read moreWe will not do business here again. My husband ordered 5 pieces of furniture from here August 11th. He was told it would be 2-3 weeks before they got our living room tables in. 7 weeks later we still had not heard anything from anybody about our furniture that we were about to make our 2nd payment on. My husband called them and left a message for the manager, he never heard back from him. I went by the store while I was in the area only to be told he didnât know why it wasnât there and he done an âallocationâ on it and he would know something in 24-48 hours. 4 days later my husband calls to find out what the deal was after the allocation, he got told the same thing, that he (the manager) was going to do an allocation on the furniture. My husband calls back a few days later and when they still could not tell us anything he told them to take the furniture off the bill and update the financial contract. It was then that the furniture appeared in the store so we went to get the furniture only to be told that 2 out of the 3 pieces that we were waiting on was there. He asks to speak to the manager who was not there at the time but would be back in the store within an hour. We killed some time and came back to the store (3 hours later) and the manager still was not there. The time that I went to the store it was the manufacturers fault that we still did not have our tables. I asked why the manager did not return my husbands phone calls (5 total) and his reply was that he didnât get the messages. We are fed up beyond belief with the lies and run around Update: we got the two tables home that finally came in and one of them was cracked and busted and had scratches on it. We will be contacting the better business bureau in the morning. My husband finally talked to the head manager today and the only thing he agreed to was to take the tables back and take them off...
