Yamato Japan — Restaurant in Hattiesburg

I dined in about 1 month ago and since this is my 2nd negative experience here, I won’t be back. I ordered steak and shrimp hibachi. I remember really wanting steak and definitely not chicken. I got my food, ate sushi, salad, edamame, etc and by the time I got to my hibachi, realized it was chicken and shrimp. I was puzzled but put the blame on myself thinking since I was tired, maybe the wrong words came out of my mouth. I did not eat the chicken and grazed on the other. I was no where near being finished eating but the waitress was in a hurry and brought my check. I saw that i was billed for steak and shrimp. Aha! I did order correctly. The server was not at all interested in correcting the mistake. I had to ask 3 times and I finally gave up. Disappointed because I really really DID NOT want chicken. Bad...

We were referred here. It’s only reason we tried it. We ordered steak hibachi and shrimp hibachi. The portions were tiny. Especially compared to other places. The rice was fried and hardly any eggs in the rice. Steak was tiny bits and tasted like tenderized steaks. I literally had to season my food and add an egg to it when I made it home. The yum yum sauce tasted like salad dressing so I’m assuming they gave us extra salad dressing instead of yum yum sauce. The Miso soup came in a tiny styrofoam container and was cloudy. I didn’t eat. The shrimp had the same portion size and blandness. I honestly see why it’s cheaper than other hibachi places. There’s no quality to the food and the food portions are tiny. I'm not sure how this restaurant recieved such a good rating but I chose Yamato Japan restaurant because of this. ALERT!!! this has to be one of the worst sushi restaurant in the state of Mississippi and maybe the country and I have visited hundreds. I have had better sushi at an all you can eat buffet in a casino. The portions are child like and the fish "fresh Salmon was terrible and fishy tasting like it was over a year old and just defrosted when I ordered it. I have never been the one to bash a restaurant because at least they may have some good qualities. The air-conditioning dripped water constantly on my table and the Nigri was the size of a child's thumb, the sushi rolls were the size of a roll of nickels and the sashimi was paper thin.
