Beauty Lux Salon — Local services in Hawaii

Let me first start off by saying how awful both locations are (Kona & Waikoloa) as I have been to both. If you like being being treated like trash and having your hair ruined, go here!

I had my hair done by Kim Hageman at the new Waikoloa location and she totally ruined my hair. All I got done was highlights and she messed up the color so bad and my hair had patches of bleach in it and patches with no color! After I noticed how awful my hair looked I contacted the Kona location for a color correction. They booked me with a different stylist and 3 days before my appointment I received a call saying if I want my hair redone by a new stylist I will have to pay for the service again because they are having "payroll issues". ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! First of all .. if someone ruins your hair why would you go back to that stylist?!

Not only did they make this situation very awkward for me but I have awful looking hair that I have cried over many nights and I paid over $200 for this service! I finally spoke with the Owner Mara McMichael on the phone and she was EXTREMELY RUDE she said she would not give me a refund, that my correction appt has been cancelled, and then HUNG UP ON ME.

Please beware of this salon and especially if you are a blonde. They have ruined my hair!!! Word of mouth goes a long way and so does social media. Very poorly...

The Salon is very well kept and almost all staff were professional. We went with six people for mani and pedis. Unfortunately the space isn’t big enough for everyone to sit in one room. When one person in our party asked for tips on her nails she was told, “no, i don’t have enough time”... but then asked the additional two people in our party who were meeting us to come an hour earlier. The salon also doesn’t have a wide selection of nail polish & because of this they do not have gel nail polish to match the toes. For some they did a good job finding a match but for others matched a pink shade with an electric red and it looks awful. Even after speaking up about it they insisted it would be fine. We also found that some girls on our party were being receiving hand and leg massages and others were not - that’s disappointing. Most were all smiles and offered to get us drinks - they even lets us bring our own bottle of wine, that was very nice. I went to this salon for hair coloring during my first trip to Hawaii, 4 months ago in March and Mara McMichael did a fantastic job on my hair😍 exactly how I wanted it!👍 I started having gray roots more than 15 years ago and been wanting to do highlights to blend with my gray hair…At first I was sceptic of the outcome because I’ve been coloring my hair roots for almost 15 years now and all other hair stylist were always doing darker highlights, it always turns out brown after blowing! Mara did a great job on blending the colors she used with my gray hair and the outcome was amazing 🤩 I went back there for a retouch on highlights in April before going back to the mainland and til today I haven’t been to another hair salon yet for retouch on my gray hair they’ve grown out and it still blends with the highlights from 3-4 months ago, and I just love it!❤️I’m moving to Hawaii and very happy because I know where to go for my hair😀 Thank...
