Hawaii's Big Island Eats: Kona Edition
Jersey Shore AwakeningJersey Shore Awakening
Overpriced Frozen food, and a measly 30% discount for employees. Even in training. I’ve been a server for nearly 20yrs, w NYC, S. FL, Jersey Shore and Hawaii experience. I’ve never heard of an establishment that deals in food not feeding their employees. How much would it cost to put out a tray of rice or pasta every night for their hardworking employees? Instead expect to pay $22 for a burger after discount. In my opinion, a bit stingy. I consider myself to be a top level server and anyone who I’ve worked for or who’s worked with me will agree. 10 days of training over the course of nearly 3wks. When honestly anyone who’s done serving as a career, could learn it in 1 double shift or 2 days. 1 in the kitchen, to learn food and table numbers. And 1 on the floor to learn the computer and layout of things. I asked management twice to please reconsider the extensive training and was met w nasty, short attitudes. Then on my 1st day after all the training, I showed up 1hr early, eager to work & smiling as always. I asked the GM if I could store my $800 camera in the manager’s office desk. She replied that I should go buy a lock and store it another locker. Yet there were no other lockers available. So I said sure and walked away. She confrontationally followed me into locker room and bent over talking to me like a 4yr old telling me how she detected attitude. Then told me I could leave. Just super uptight, and stuffy, like I thought we were in Hawaii? I believe maybe a bit favoritism, or just a hater who knows . I truly don’t understand why they were so petty and rude. Completely out of line and uncalled for zero aloha from a miserable mgmt team. Trained there as a server for 2 weeks. And brought my A game, all smiles, always, total aloha and hardworking team player. And EVERYBODY there saw that. Customers and staff. And after all of that she called me 30min after I left to tell me my check was in. Pretty sad that is how insecure they are about having a real professional teammate there. So unless you like walking on eggshells, curtsying to mgmt and tiptoeing around petty haters, I would not recommend working for them. At all. No aloha.

Sorry, I rarely give a low number for a restaurant...I understand that these places are trying to make a living, but, when it's bad, it's bad and I must say something...the food was just NOT GOOD! First kind of positive, the coconut shrimp was okay, but over cooked. My wedge salad was insane large a loaded with bacon, blue cheese crumbles and blue cheese dressing...not bad. Next, my grandson orders a basic bacon cheeseburger, which came with no bacon and only warm very boring fries...not even any salt. My wife ordered the sampler plate because she really wanted the Macadamia crusted Mahi...but knew that it was not a fresh catch, but we hoped they still cooked it well...NOPE...It came cold, and the server said it was probably the cold salsa on top...ya, NO, it's not well cooked. So, the burger and the Fish plate goes back. They slap some bacon on the burger...and threw the fish plate in a warmer/steamer and heated up the entire plate ...not a refire on the fish! This is just truly POOR management. We actually went to another restaurant, and it had a 1-2 hour wait...this place was nearly empty, and now we know why! I had to convince my wife that the recent bad posts might just be a one in 10 chance...it'll all be okay ...ugh! Then I go to use the restroom...DIDASTER! It's not like they were dealing with a super crazy busy restaurant... including the un-bussed table in an area that had NO guests in it! Again, the owners might want to consider who's managing this place...with SO many choices in the area, people are going to choose a different location. All this for a 150+ tip bill. Not worth it at...

We came to this restaurant after reading the reviews and looking forward to the food. We had 2 kids with us that were hungry and wanting to sit down. We were greeted and had a choice to wait or sit at a table that still had to be cleaned. The table was right at the wall that had a park on the other side and the walk next to the bay. We took that opportunity and settled in. We waited 10 minutes, I noticed a couple sat 3 tables away from us, 5 minutes later the couple had menus and a drink. We had not even been talked too. After about 23 minutes not a single person came to talk to us or even clean the table. I went to talk to a waiter, then the hostess and the bartender. After another 7 minutes a waitress with a honey sweet voice made sure the table behind us was taken care off and then came to us and barked at us that she was busy and did not have a chance to take care of us. She had no menus, or dish rag to clean the table. After she left my wife and I decided to leave. I do not blame the waitress in this case. The management should never put the bussing, greeting, serving of more than 20 tables on a single person. The waitress was overworked and the organization of who came and went was unacceptable. Oh and if you want to know what happened to the other table with the couple that came in after us, They had drinks and appetizers. What about us you wonder? We went and dropped $200+ of our hard earned cash...
