Rokoff Studio & Art Gallery — Attraction in Hawaii

Camille was hanging on the wall when we first met her. Beautiful paintings pulled my wife and I into an artist’s gallery in the Kona shopping area. Camille’s portrait opened a portal into the world of her husband, artist Alexander Rokoff. When we met Alexander, he had a canvas set up and was painting – the gallery is truly the “Rokoff Studio.” Watching Alexander work is amazing. Mixing the colors and applying them to the canvas, a bit of blue here and a touch of red there, creating a stunning sunset over Kona Bay. Alexander is an accomplished artist with a unique artist’s eye on the world. Photos of Kona from an iphone simply don’t cut it. It’s like comparing a fresh-cut papaya to a glazed doughnut. We decided to commission Alexander to paint a portrait of us (it was actually affordable), and it was one of the best and smartest things we ever did. We stopped into the Studio while we were on the Big Island for a few weeks this summer, and had a very welcoming visit with Alexander Rokoff. Afterward, I could not stop thinking about how Rokoff captured both the tranquility and beauty of the Big Island in a way that one could feel it. My rule on art is that I have to walk away and see if it stays with me before I buy it.... and, well, this art did just that. I ended up contacting the Rokoffs once we were back home and commissioned a painting of Kailua Kona Bay with about 20 "easter eggs" to remind of us our summer in Hawaii. The completed piece arrived today, and I know I will cherish it forever. What a wonderful talent this artist has!

I can't say enough about Camille & Alexander!! As soon as we walked into the studio it was like visiting old friends. Camille is very passionate about her husbands work as she talked about him and how he paints, her enthusiasm was contagious!! And then we got to meet Alexander, WOW!! Again the passion he exudes for his work is contagious! He shared with us how he uses certain techniques or colors and even gave us a demonstration with a piece of artwork he was currently working on. Simply Fascinating!!
