My friend and I had visited Honolulu about a week ago. I had been there once and she had never been so we decided to take Kevin's tour. I'd heard about his tour from another friend of mine who had visited and raved about Kevin's tour and thought he sounded fun. I was SO right.
Kevin showed up at our hotel right on time with the famous Leanord's bakery malasadas and a cooler of water. That was on our list of things to check out and he beat us to it! He ended up giving us a ton of history about the island and lots of facts about where things were filmed such as Lost, 50 first dates, Jurrasic Park, etc. He took us to all of the spots we were hoping to see and even some secret spots while maintaining a fun and hilarious tour. Kevin really is a great tour guide. You can tell that he loves his job and that made the tour that much more enjoyable. He customized our tour to what we wanted and really delivered. He also took lots of really good high quality photos of us and he sent them to us after the tour. I have some incredible photos of my once in a lifetime trip!! Now, I've been on tours before and when it's over, it's over. Not with Kevin. He told us (and was actually genuine about it) that if we needed any help with directions, advice on where to eat, good happy hours, or ANYTHING to call him anytime during our visit to Hawaii. That really surprised me because usually people take your money and are done with you.
I usually never leave reviews but Kevin had to be commented on. He's a really nice, funny, genuine guy and he's a family man. He kept talking about his wife and kids (who are beautiful!) and you can tell that he is a hard-working husband. I would recommend this tour to anyone visiting whether you're just with a friend like me or your family. I cannot stress enough how glad I am that we did NOT take a bus tour with 25 other random tourists. This tour really allowed my friend and I to see the real Hawaii. You really do escape Waikiki when you take Kevin's tour. It is worth every penny! Hope you enjoy it as much as we did. THANK...
Read moreMy husband and I have been to Oahu many times, and generally use it as our first stop in a multi-island visit. We were looking for a different experience this time on Oahu, to book a tour with someone that could meet our custom needs in seeing new places and things that we normally wouldn't know about. After searching many options on Social Media, we landed on Escape Waikiki Tours....which was just that....a short escape from Waikiki (where we love to stay), with a knowledgeable guide who knew how to have fun, without the inconvenience of having to rent our own car! Kevin Bornemann took time to figure out our interests, and then tailored a 6-hour tour that introduced us to new places on Oahu that we never would have known about or taken the time to seek out. His website gave us a guide of his "typical" tours, but he was willing to modify the trip on the fly and show us some real unique spots. He also gave us suggestions of things to do for the remainder of our stay there, and for ideas for our next visit next year. Kevin was animated, fun, knowledgeable, and experienced. His love for his family, the island, and the people of Oahu were evident in the stories he told and in the experiences he shared. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would highly recommend his tour. While we were only 2 (we wanted a Private Tour), his Car could easily have accommodated more people to share the day with more Guests for those traveling with a family or groups of friends. The stop for Malasadas from Leonard's was a special bonus! The time flew by and we still had most of the afternoon to enjoy the beach when we got back! He picked us up and dropped us off right at our hotel, which was more than convenient. We are hoping to a repeat booking for next year to see more new spots! Thanks to Kevin...
Read morePhenomenal! This tour was so amazing and Kevin is such a great guy! Not even sure where to start...
Communication from Kevin was great; from booking all the way through the tour itself. You could almost consider him a historian with the points of interest, stories, legends and history we learned. Conversation was engaging, sincere and interesting throughout the day.
The tour was exactly what we were looking for. Kevin had a basic itinerary planned after asking what our interests were, but it was totally flexible as well. Throughout the day, he'd make suggestions and we'd spontaneously head off to something unplanned. Made it really feel like we were exploring without the worry of traffic or getting lost.
We brought a bag with swimsuits, snorkel equipment and hiking sneakers not knowing what we would need. So glad we did as we spontaneously went swimming at a beautiful cove on the North Shore. So much fun!
We booked the tour at the very beginning of our trip and I highly recommend doing the same. It was a great introduction to parts of the island and gave us lots of ideas for the rest of our trip. And as mentioned before, thanks to Kevin, there were no worries about traffic or parking since he knew the island so well! His wife even made some cupcakes for my birthday celebration that he shared made from apple bananas (sweet bananas). Thoughtful and delicious!
The bonus photos that Kevin took during the day are some of our favorites of the whole trip! He had some great photo locations and he takes great photos!
We very highly recommend Kevin and Escape Waikiki Tours! Absolutely money well spent, an amazing experience and I feel like we made a new...
