I wish they would charge lower rent so we could actually get and KEEP stores in our Mall. It use to be so full and the place to be. And my experience is that their management is not open to my suggestions. Hope someone else can get through to them before they have to close their doors. We want the Mall. Maybe get stores like GAP, Charming Charles, Coach Outlet, Victoria's Secrets, Sears, a store that carries Biblical items, get a place where you can sit and eat some snacks and drink a beer or a pop, like either a cool bar like they have in the larger malls or a pop& snack stand. We need some fun things, maybe out in the middle. And a place where vendors of all types can rent an area for a booth. Half of the stores are closed and now they closed the entrance to the very North store. You have to go outside to go back inside! I HATE that Plan! Now you feel like you are at the end of the Mall and forget there is another store but you have to go outside for an entrance. If they wanted just one entrance they should have kept the opening and made it into a tunnel where you can see through to the store. And make it curve around to the West entrance. Then people from the mall would not have to go outside and they are still coming in the West entrance. There are many ideas out there if they would listen and not be focused only on their plans because their plans are...
Read moreI don't dislike the area's only indoor shopping center. The biggest issue is lack of variety. I really only visit a couple times a year..Christmas shopping and back to school. It seems there is no middle ground, mainstay tenants such as penny's and gordmans are on their way out. The buckle (name brand. Expensive.) Has some good looking stuff..but I can't afford to outfit my kid in this..not to mention..it's not what he wants. So we usually go to look for shoes in "the mall" (yes, I realize it's now named big creek crossing) however, you have 2 shoe stores..tradehome and famous footware. Tradehome is great actually. They offer all the newest styles and great brands..at a price. Famous footware..well..good brands..good price. However their selection can be quite limited if you want say..a running shoe for a young teen. All in all..it's a mall of the 2000's..struggling..many empty shops..not a lot of variety and quite frankly..not a lot of...
Read moreI really don't go to malls much, I'm not much of a shopper. But now that my tax dollars are funding it instead of something useful like a school or fixing the railroad tracks over on Canterbury, I have started to take note. As others have mentioned, the floor is a disgrace. I kept thinking it must not be done yet, but I'm afraid it is. Store selection is…limited. I wonder how any stores are there, land to build a free standing building is pretty cheap around here. The parking lot looks really nice, and you have a really good view of it because hardly ever is much of it hidden under cars. Strangely, the one area they didn't repave is the busiest area, around the theater.
I guess I'm just really confused that during a time when brick and mortar stores are being pronounced DOA by online competition, the geniuses behind Hays zoning decide to give the mall money through a special tax zone. I...
