Wow! Big 5 stars! Such a bright and clean place! Food was superb, waitress was amazing. And and just in case you missed it the food was amazing! Will 100% be coming back. For how busy it was I could still have a very easy conversation without having to talk over the room. I had the pork chop, wife had shrimp scampi. So much food! At first we thought the pieces were a bit high, but at the end, we 100% got our moneys worth For how big the Portions are (wife had about half her shrimp 6-7 left and pasta) The pastor was perfectly al dente and had twice as many shrimp as you would normally see at other restaurants. My pork chop was about an inch thick and grilled to perfection juicy until the last bite and just enough char to bring out some great flavors. The sauce that they use is savory, but get hanging at the same time and blended perfectly with the pork chop! The grilled corn that came with mine was absolutely amazing 10 out of 10 would get this again! We also got the lemon Gelato to share. Perfect size for a single or to share. The perfect end to our meal! There’s a little bit of salt on it, and it bounced out the sweetness of the gelato Perfectly.

Our meal at Breaks last night was truly delicious! I had the Lobster ravioli—creamy cheese and lobster filled pasta with a divine sauce (beurre blanc?) with more lobster on top. I reluctantly shared one of my ravioli with my mother-in-law, and could only just refrain from licking my plate clean. My husband had the Shrimp Po’Boy which he found perfectly fried and very generous (more than he could finish), with very tasty shoestring fries. The food arrived hot and in a timely manner; our server was friendly and competent. This was our fifth or sixth visit since their opening. Despite some early issues with kitchen timing which seem resolved, we’ve been rooting for them as a welcome and needed addition to the Hays dining scene. Fresh-made food (not pulled out of the freezer and dropped in the fryer), locally sourced ingredients, an engaging menu, and a screen-free dining room make for a great meal out. Some additional items we’ve especially enjoyed were the Salmon salad niçoise, the Eggs Benedict, the Veggie Omelette, the Lemon blueberry Dutch baby, and Gigi’s potatoes.

The catered spread from Breaks Eatery & Bar was nothing short of delicious! While the setup and styling were handled separately, the food itself was the true star of the event. The vibrant assortment of fresh vegetables paired with a homemade ranch dip was as crisp and flavorful as it looked. One of the standout offerings was the smoked salmon—perfectly seasoned, tender, and a crowd favorite. The snow peas stuffed with crab were another delightful surprise—elegant, fresh, and full of flavor. From the roasted garlic almonds to the marinated vegetables and generous charcuterie selections, every bite showcased quality and care. Chuck Comeau was fantastic to work with—he really listened to what we wanted and offered thoughtful, creative menu selections that matched our vision perfectly. His follow-through was exceptional, from checking out the venue in advance to confirming the necessary serving pieces. Breaks Eatery & Bar delivered a truly memorable culinary experience!

Been to this restaurant a couple times and sadly have had poor experiences both times. 1st time we went for my man's birthday breakfast. We were seated promptly and though the place seemed slow, we waited at least 40mins for a waiter to even come to our table. Waited another 40mins for food and they brought my man the wrong meal completely. No point in them fixing it to wait another 40mins for them to bring out the correct meal. I expressed our concerns to the waiter & said he'd see if they could discount our bill. Nothing ended up discounted. The place obviously didn't care about having returning costumers. I saw they supposedly did a reopening and everything was supposed to be better, figured we'd give them another try. That sadly was not the experience we got yet again. This time we arrived at about 10:15am. Was told it would be a 20-25min wait, sure we waited and even used the link to pick out on the menu what we wanted FOR BREAKFAST.. Wasn't seated until 11:02am. I have the texts from them to prove it. Waitress asked what she could get us to drink, luckily I overheard a waitress tell another table that they were no longer serving breakfast otherwise I would've been ordering coffee and orange juice to go with whatever I now had to find off a lunch menu. Which unfortunately happened to several tables around us. Many ordering orange juice or coffee with the thought they would be getting breakfast just for the waitresses to THEN tell them that breakfast is no longer being served. Several tables walked out around us. A fellow family that I waited along side with on the benches and was finally seated after my quoted time was up, they waited an hour after being seated to even get their breakfast meals, which had been nearly 11:30am at that point but when we asked the waitress if they would be willing to make a pancake for our daughter since we waited so long and weren't aware that by the time we were seated they would no longer be taking breakfast orders. That's all my daughter wanted, but the waitress told us absolutely not even though they were still bringing out breakfast foods for the people that were seated and ordered before the clock struck 11am. It broke my heart to hear her tell her imaginary friend that "they aren't making pancakes anymore. I don't know why". We watched table after table leave without ever being served because of the long wait. At this point it would've been way faster to go to store, do all my grocery shopping, come home, cook my family a very nice breakfast of breakfast potatoes, thick ham steaks, over easy eggs, AND buttermilk pancakes all from scratch and we all could've been eating what we wanted before finally getting our meals from here. Trust me, we regretted our decision of thinking this would be faster. We should've been informed before agreeing to wait, that they don't serve breakfast passed 11am and the possibility that we won't be seated until after that. Do we still want to be placed on the waiting list, expecting to get breakfast just to finally sit to be told that's not going to happen. Waitress could've been friendlier like some of her other co workers but she did her basic duty as a waitress. I liked the salmon salad meal. My man said his burger was presented pretty but was bland and unseasoned and fries were sitting in their own grease from being fried which made them not edible. Nothing that should've taken 40mins to prepare, especially with the breakfast rush being over and many tables walking out before even placing orders for food. Very unfortunate way to waste 2+hours of our limited time together on a mutual day off from work. Will not return and would encourage others not to waste...

Pretty disappointed overall. But I'll give you the good first.

The service was great. They were busy, and the wait for the food was maybe a tad bit long, but the waitress checked in with us multiple times to make sure we were good and keep our drinks refreshed.

The atmosphere was good overall too. We were in a both and it was very comfortable and pleasant. And everything was very clean.

The food was... OK. The prices seemed quite high, and the selections were very limited. We got there at 11:15 and they were already done with all breakfast foods. For a place billing itself as a brunch destination, this was very disappointing. They are only open until 2:30. Why have any difference in your menu from open to close?

The food was certainly not bad, but it wasn't described well on the menu, and much of it was very different than what we expected. My daughter ordered the Ravioli, and while my wife and I thought it was good, it was certainly not what we would expect for ravioli, and my daughter wouldn't eat it.

I got the 18 dollar burger. And it was good overall. But it hit that disappointing issue that places trying to be fancy often get wrong with burgers, rather than being wide, it was very tall, which means you have to smash the burger down and loose half the contents in order to eat it. Never my favorite. If you want a salad they had a great selection, but everything else was limited and scattered, which is why I got a burger in the first place.

Also, and I know this is minor, but it was also oddly frustrating. Even though they have a different menu for breakfast and lunch, the lunch menu has no appetizers on it. I don't know. I didn't get that.

We do plan to go back and try the actual breakfast food. Maybe my rating will change some then. But I am irritated that by 11 I didn't even have the option to have breakfast foods at a brunch place, so we'll see.

I really want/wanted to love this place. But but as it stands 2 stars is what it gets from me.

And as of this posting it shows 10-20 per person. That's insane. 20-30 is the right spot, and that's only if you don't...

This was, unfortunately, one of the worst restaurant experiences we’ve had. We were told the wait would be 20 minutes, but it ended up being 40. On top of that, no one informed us that breakfast would no longer be available until after we were seated. Had we been sat in the timeframe we were promised, we could have ordered breakfast. Imagine bringing in a child who knows exactly what they want, only to be told it’s not being served anymore due to poor management and lack of communication.

We also heard multiple other tables express the same frustration. Even guests who were seated an hour after breakfast had ended were still not told that breakfast wasn’t available until they tried to order. That level of mismanagement is simply unacceptable.

When we finally placed our order, it took another 40 minutes for the food to arrive. The table behind us waited over an hour. The service staff clearly lacks proper training, and it shows. The food itself was mediocre at best—nicely plated, but completely lacking in seasoning or flavor. Presentation alone doesn’t make up for food that tastes so bland.

What makes this more disappointing is that this wasn’t a one-off. We came back in February and had nearly the same experience. Watching multiple guests walk out this time only reinforced our concern. It’s difficult to understand how this restaurant continues to receive such strong reviews—frankly, it feels suspicious.

Because of these repeated poor experiences, we will not be recommending this restaurant to our guests, as it would reflect poorly on us. We had genuinely hoped this would become Hays’ go-to dining spot, but with so many better options in town that cost less and taste far superior, there’s simply no...
