So, these people think they own the Hilton of RV resorts or something, when it's really the Holiday Inn. The sites are level, the sites are clean, and that's where the positive things abruptly stop. The pool always has bugs and debris floating in it, the bathrooms always smell strongly of sewer, someone left poop on the floor in one of the showers, and the amenities are pretty much unable to be used. The "library" doesn't have a book in it that has been written in the past 25 years, and when you go to use it, they find reasons you can't. Kids are nowhere to be seen on property, no bike riding, no playing at the amenities, or even in their sites or walking a dog. So, if you're looking for a family friendly resort, this ain't it, chief. This place is closer to a retirement home or assisted living facility than it is a family resort. The manager and staff are disgusting with how much they think they're better than others. Our RV is in great condition, our site is clean, and we are quiet and respectful to our neighbors, yet we were told, "the condition of your RV was never approved by us, you won't be staying here again." It's a 2000, the CA sun has had its way with the decals, but that's the only thing wrong with it. When we checked in, it was at 2pm, we didn't sneak in, we didn't hide our RV, and we were let in with zero problems.
What they didn't like was our kids, and that's why they put us out. Our kids aren't addicted to screens anymore since we started this, so they like to go out, ride their bikes, explore, etc... and every time they would try and go have fun, they were sent back home and told they weren't allowed to do this, that or the other thing. They're tweens, in our other RV resorts we visit, we have no issues. They're respectful kids and quiet for being kids, but they're still kids. The way we were told that we weren't going to be allowed to stay any longer was gross, this place is located in the dirtiest city, and they charge through the nose and discriminate against families.
Even if we got a brand new RV, we wouldn't be coming back. We said we wouldn't come back after the first time, but we gave them another shot and they failed miserably. Don't stay here unless you're over the age of 80, have a brand new rig, and you don't have anyone under 18 with you. Don't plan on using the amenities, the laundry is severely overpriced, the bathrooms are nasty and so are the pool, the library has old and outdated books, the wifi is slow and spotty, and the owners think they're better than common folk.
Oh and in our spot last time, right next to where we parked our vehicle, there was a metal pole sticking out of the ground about an inch, someone didn't finish grinding it down. It was sharp and in the direct path to pop my passenger side tires, I tripped over it multiple times and had to catch myself from...
Read moreSo irritated! Came Nov 1 and pools, all 3 of them, were then an issue, not heated at all or too cold for water activities and dirty. Finally, looks like MOST of the water amenities are repaired (and the pools cleaned for the most part although not at all like last year)..oh no, wait a minute! Today there are 25 or more water volleyball players and, sadly, one pool is not operating AGAIN!. This activity is a daily thing and the park is well aware of our need for facilities but no one seems to give a rip - all we get are excuses!. Amenities have been removed with nothing replacing them, space rental continues to go up, and employees complain that there are not enough workers-their excuse for not keeping this park pristine as it was last year. This is, or was at least, the best park in the Hemet area and we loved it. If not for our friends, this would no longer be included in our travel plans based on current experience. Last year I rated this a 5 on Trip Adviser and I am hopeful that next year will be a much better year. So sad as there is amazing potential for this park! On the plus side, even though the park has only 4 pickleball courts, they are most enjoyable and the area's surrounding golf, I am told, is very reasonable. If pools are not your focus, then all is well. If pools and associated water activities are your passion, better bring a wetsuit, just in case...
UPDATE: Received a call from the GM last evening regarding this review, a surprise I must say. The conversation covered a number of concerns and I gained substantially more insight in the workings of this facility. While the conversation doesn't "fix" the issues, at least I more fully understand the operation and am hopeful that corrections will be seen in the coming months. It would be my hope that having monthly, or otherwise regularly-scheduled gatherings with our "community", with the GM, could very much alleviate brewing concerns as has been my case with last evening's meeting. Hearing first hand what is going on would be far more helpful and perhaps create more tolerance toward the situations with this aging park. Here we would have an opportunity to, corporately, address concerns, i.e. cold pools, etc.so all would know first hand rather than word-of-mouth which can be distorted quickly. I now understand of the many attempts to try other activities which, for the most part have failed due to poor "community" attendance. Much of this I was unaware of so, again, my view of this facility has changed substantially. Knowing that they are trying to replace lost activities with other things also brightens my outlook on this park. Now it is up to our family and friends here at GVP to get involved and support attempts to bring another face to...
Read moreI wouldn't want my ex in-laws to stay here, and they were worse than my ex-wife. The girls in the office have won the "It's not my job" award on numerous occasions. They are rude, inconsiderate, and just plain nasty. They won't even go get your mail if the mail lady takes the day off or is late coming in to work. The mail lady is really the only one besides the gate guards that are actually considerate, friendly, and go above and beyond every day.
They made me prove my disability, prove that my (large breed) mobility service dog was actually a mobility service dog, and threatened to tow my truck if I were to park in a handicapped space because I am "too young to have or need any of these things." They violated my civil rights as a human being and under the federal ADA laws. They lied about it too saying they have the legal right to make me prove my dog and myself as legally disabled.
The place is so incredibly loud. Sirens all the time and really loud traffic. You would almost thing there is a drag strip near by. Thats exactly it, the locals use the streets around the park as their own local drag strips. There is a fire station and an AMR ambulance station right next door. The fire station I swear is the busiest I have ever known. Sirens all the time!
People jump the walls and gates all the time and steal or use the showers and bathrooms here. We have caught them so this comes from personal experience. A tree fell over on our site. Two weeks after telling them about it, it was still there at the front of the site waiting to be removed. I finally had to get rid of it myself. When I complained about my neighbors constantly barking and unattended (outside) chihuahua, I was told there was nothing they could do because it was a "service dog" . . . . .WTF???? Are you kidding me?
The wi-fi is horrible and mostly doesn't work. Had to use cell phones as much as we could or go to somewhere else with wi-fi available. The new laundry room has a ton of issues since updating to credit card only. It only works when the wi-fi works, and the wi-fi rarely works.....
Their rules are very fluid though. It seems they only enforce them if you are "too young". We were clearly held to a different standard than that of the other residents. My wife and I are not trouble either. We are both professionals that have the ability to live on the road full-time and move every couple of months to experience somewhere new. I believe that if you are over the age of about 60, you will be just fine here. However, the opposite holds true if you are younger than 50. This place has problems and I am surprised they haven't been taken to...
