On July 2, 2017 I took my kids to watch a movie there and this is our experience; we went in and ask if my son could utilized the restroom and a person in charge of checking the tickets told me we needed to have tickets in order to use the restroom. So we bought tickets for a movie that would start an hour later. My son was able to use the restroom. And since there were no seats anywhere to wait, we sat on the floor against the wall while we wait for the movie to begin. Then the person in charge of checking the tickets told us we could not sit on the hall way because he needed to keep it clear, to which I replied: "there is no people walking thru!". He then said" you guys have to wait in the lobby". So we went to the lobby where there's no seats. So i went up the one of the staff members and asked for a refund and they told me I had to ask the manager. I asked for the manager and they told me it was the person checking for the tickets. And also that most likely he wouldn't give back a refund. So as I explained what had happened the manager showed up which instead of asking a 'costumer service question' right away he clarified "we don't refund the money back, it says it on the ticket!" I told him we were not satisfied with the service he provided. Even some employees agreed that other customers had issues with him in the past. And since I couldn't get my refund back and I had already paid 22.50 for 3 tickets (1 adult and 2 kids) I figured we wait for the movie to start. We waited 20 minutes to be allowed to go in to the theater. Once we went in, my daughter felt sick of the smell of the theater. She told me it smelled really bad, but since I had spent the money for the movie that she would be okay sitting there and watch the movie. So got my 2 kids and left without watching the movie. I called the movie theater to see if I could get the manager's boss phone number, unlucky for me, the manager answered the phone and I asked for the owner/his boss number and he denied giving it to me by saying this:" how do you know I'm not the owner of this business" and I could not get him out of that phrase. He hang up on me saying he will not answer any of my questions. I'm not from this area, and this type of people give bad reputation to this businesses. I hope he gets trained properly on...
Read moreIf I could give this place NO STARS I WOULD!!! We get to the movie theater for a 3:30pm showing of Bad Boys II. We arrived a few minutes late, there's a line out the door with one attendant available to purchase tickets from. The manager, a heavy, short stout man, walked away from the register, and a young girl who was previously assisting with serving popcorn came to the register. It was my turn to purchase tickets, she asked for my ID. She was a bit stern, with attitude in there voice but she was young and probably had experienced a lot of push back so she felt the need to speak to me with authority. We definitely look older than 18 y/o but if that's the rules of the games, okay we'll play. I also saw, after being made aware of the rules, there were a few signs hanging up saying the same. We returned to our car to get our ID. Coming back in the movie theater, the manager was back at the register. There appeared to be what was a family of four in front of us, white, but he purchased tickets for two, him and his wife. Who was with me said to me, he better ask for their ID, HE DIDN'T!!!!!!!!!!! I asked, "why didn't you ask for their ID. I was just instructed that I must have an ID to purchase tickets by your popcorn attendent". He replies, she can't judge who needs an ID or not. I then replied, as I was walking up to the register, "you have signs posted, your rules say to see an R rates movie the customer must present an ID". I then got up to the register, I handed him my credit card to payment of tickets. He begins to give me a slow explanation as to why he didn't ask for their ID, to justify his asking for ID from some customers and not asking for ID from other customers. I then replied, I don't want to hear an explanation about you not asking for their ID and I was refused service until I went back out in the car to get mine". At that point there was nothing he could say but hand me my card and say, "I will have to refuse service". We said, "ok". If you're going to enforce a rule, no thought process goes into enforcing unless you strictly enforce it to...
Read moreMy family and I are in Henderson visiting family, we live in south florida. We decided to check out a movie at the Marketplace Cinema. When purchasing our tickets , I was surprised that the man behind the counter wanted to check my ID. That would seem reasonable if I looked like a minor, but i don’t. I am an older woman with obvious gray hair. However, since the movie was rated R, I would have been denied admission if I didn’t show my ID. I complied with his wishes. I also overheard the same man telling another group of paying customers “don’t do anything to get yourself kicked out”. In South Florida, there are many options to choose from when it comes to movie theatres. There are leather recliners, reserved seating, stadium style seating, with IMAX screens and Dolby surround sound, dinner and a movie options, where you are served by a waiter during the show and more. Yet I have never felt so unwelcomed as I did at the marketplace cinema. In my personal opinion, the staff there are unfriendly and unaccomodating, the theatre was small, and had a dirty stale odor. The seats were hard and uncomfortable. The overall experience was very poor. They theatre is run, like it’s the only option in a one horse town. I understand that there are protocols for minors, and security with bag checks. All of which can be done with common sense, in a...
