I stopped in 3 weeks before my anniversary to have my girls octopus ring repaired , he told me no problem. Crickets up to the day before when I finally got in touch with him and he questioned the purity of the silver and said it had caused him to need to resolder the ring but it should be ready the next day.
He called a few hours later to say it was ready, when I returned his call and was on my way he told me had lost the stones that made up the eyes and it wouldn't be ready until the following monday now. Then proceeded to text it was ready again but had to remove the eyes a second time because the replacement stones had one that was round and one that was faceted.
When I finally got the ring back the octopus is not centered one eye is recessed the other very pronounced, the octopus was placed on the band upside down so the legs stick up extremely high and the solder joints were not only visible but rough to the touch and not polished very well. When originally left with him the price was supposed to be $40 and when I asked how much he told me $70...When I arrived I questioned him he went back to our original discussed price.
Such a horrible experience my first anniversary gift for my girl was fumbled because he couldn't get his act together and poor quality service left a sentimental sterling silver ring looking like it was...
Read moreI have been going to Andy for years for various things. I bought a necklace from him, had him make a custom ring, and asked him to set numerous stones for me. He always took longer than expected, but he is skilled and I was always happy with his work. However, the last time I went to him was very different. I asked him to tighten prongs on a ring I bought elsewhere, and he made a comment that he didn’t think my ring was real gold. Annoyed, I agreed for him to do an acid test on my ring. Meanwhile, he also questioned the validity of my real Rolex, which I have already had appraised and insured. Anyway, I did not know how to read the acid test, and Andy misled me to believe that it showed that my ring was not real. He then told me that he was tired of me buying things elsewhere and having him fix them. I thought that was a service he offered! Luckily, I took a picture of the acid test and showed it to a reputable jeweler who explained to me how to read it and yes, my ring is 14k gold. I cannot believe the lengths Andy went to to make me doubt buying from someone other than him. Needless to say, I will not be going back...
Read moreSteer clear! I took 4 rings and 2 gold chains for sizing and repair. 3 of the rings were signed, 40 year old American Indian old pawn. Not only did "Andy" fail to size one of the rings but he took off the the original patina on the silver and removed the finish on the coral by aggressively grinding and polishing the stone. Now it is completely ruined and devalued. He replaced the lobster claw clasps on my gold chains with clasps so tiny they aren't even one third the size of the original clasps. Way undersized for the width of the chains, and charged me 64.00 apiece for these incredibly tiny clasps. Cussed me with a smile on his face and claimed the messages I left on the shops answering machine weren't there even after showing him my phone. Be warned, these people have no knowledge of jewelry and cannot work on a piece unless you bought it at Zales! I'm broken hearted that my American Indian antique rings have been irrepairably damaged even chipping the coral and...
