Had a donation pick-up scheduled today for multiple household appliances. It was asked on the website that I leave the items on the curb, but it was pouring rain outside and I didn't want all of my electrical appliances to get wet, so I parked them on my front porch (about 20 feet from the curb). When the 2 guys arrived to pick up my items, I offered to have my brother and I move them down for them, so they wouldn't have to carry them down the 3 steps from my front porch to the curb. The man who drove the truck was extremely rude, declined my help several times, and told me I needed to reschedule. I said it would only take me 5-10 minutes to move all of the appliances (my brother is 6'5" and moves furniture/appliances all the time, probably could've done it in less time honestly). He insisted that I reschedule because he was "on a tight schedule." I got the impression he just didn't want to deal with loading the items onto the truck in the first place.
I took time out of my morning to move a stove, dishwasher, wine fridge, microwave, and full sized fridge out of my house for him (not an easy feat!). The fact that he couldn't give me an extra 5-10 minutes to help him by moving these items closer to his truck, -- in the pouring rain -- is beyond me. This man was so unbelievably rude and unprofessional, and was so dismissive in his response to me. Didn't even let me finish a sentence before he just turned his back and walked away from me back to his truck. If this guy really cared about charity and helping people, he would've been more flexible. His colleague looked to be completely in shock, uncomfortable, and embarrassed by his behavior, but was pretty much silent throughout the entire discussion.
I ended up posting the items on FB marketplace for free, and another man graciously picked them up within hours. I will never consider Habitat for Humanity Restore as a donation resource again after the way I...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSave a trip, don't try to donate here. Brought brand new items such as cabinet hardware, tile, shelving and insulation to donate. Was told to wait for the supervisor to review and approve my items. When the supervisor looked at my donations he said he wouldn't take any of it, that he might as well put them in the dumpster, they would never sell. I was shocked, as I have frequently donated to the Restore in Chantilly and shop at both stores for my home improvement projects. I was not trying to donate something not applicable to the store, like a wedding dress. The tone of voice and dismissive condescension were surprising and inappropriate. I agree with other reviewers that the whole experience was...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy husband and I bought an expensive mirror from this store, and as we were leaving, we saw speakers for sale. The manager on duty had the outlandish price of $500 on the speakers with a sign saying they sold āwell above $1000 online.ā When we pointed out that they sell for far less ($500, typically), he had no response. We then asked if he would be willing to consider an offer on a mirror that had been for sale for two months (thus hadnāt sold in a timely manner). He scoffed at us and pointed at a sign that said āSale prices finalā as though we were toddlers. While the store has potential, this staff member was incorrigible and appears to cause the store...
