Honestly, this place is very over-hyped. When it comes to the chicken sandwiches it’s very limited options. You don’t even have the option of customization. The highlight of this place is if you’re a spice lover & want to feel the burn. I personally choose to eat the spicy chicken, because it gives me the spice level I desire which is suffering lol. Besides the spice though, the chicken isn’t very flavorful. It has a thin breading on the outside which is spicy & hits you with the oomph. The potato bun gets soggy instantly & the coleslaw topping for the Sando is subpar including the “comeback” sauce. Most of the sandwich is unflavorful white chicken meat with the thin layer of spice breading. Why two stars? Even tho I don’t enjoy the sandwich, I enjoy the spice level which I crave. I’m a glutton for punishment what can I say. The waffle fries are good, so there’s that. There’s no combo though so you’ll be paying for a whole box of fries. The portions for sides make absolutely no sense. I want fries with my sandwich not a whole meal of fries…I get this is America, but I don’t want that. The final note I will add. Never order the Fried Okra. I’m a fried okra fan, I love it, grew up in Missouri, & just brings me back. Their Okra is frozen…which would be fine if they knew how to season it. But instead of seasoning their frozen okra they just fry it. There is absolutely no seasoning & no ranch to drown out the lack of taste. The sauce they do offer does the Okra no justice. Save yourself disappointment & dont get the Okra. I’ll only recommend this shop if you like extreme spice. Go with the code red or code blue for those extreme spice lovers. If you want the hurt, it brings it. The tenders would be the best to get in that case, as the sando is too much white meat & not enough breading which leaves it spicy but much to be desired. Not a great place to eat, but a great place to feel the heat. That...
Read more5 stars chix & waffles. Hands-down the best i've ever had. The waffle is soft and sweet, the chicken (spicy 2) is perfectly spicy, crunchy, seasoned, tender and moist. The honey butter was soft and creamy and the syrup was good also. Eat it with the comeback sauce and it adds a little more savory/mouthfeel to the bite. You get sweet, salty, spicy, umami with soft, creamy and crunchy. MAN!!!
Updated Review (11/5/2022) Their sandwich is by far the best I've ever had. However, there is a little nuance that I've found. The sandwich actually tastes better after you let it cool down a significant amount. Also the first few bites where all u get is chicken aren't that great. The magic comes in once you get the chicken, pickle, slaw, bun and sauce all in one bite. Without that combo, you're missing the magic. I would also suggest adding more sauce to the sando.
Updated Review (09/15/2023) Having recently had Dave's hot chicken, hangry joes, and Roaming Roster, I had to come back and show my love wooboi. It is by far superior. I need to add that the choi fries are absolutely phenomenal - like, would-include-as-part-of-a-last-meal-type good. It's honestly not even fair to compare wooboi to the other sando's. Wooboi is chef-inspired local fare. the others are chains - and you can taste the difference in the product. Wooboi's sauce is superior, their chicken breast is superior (albeit, their breading could be crispier), their pickles are superior, and their coleslaw superior. The fires on their own aren't the best, but combined with the slaw, pickles, and sauce...
Read moreI was excited to try this place out for the first time since I heard great reviews. As a chicken sandwich connoisseur I have to try out all of the local spots to see which I like the best. Woobois is sadly at the bottom of the totem pole. Let's start at the beginning. As soon as you enter the restaurant you are met with an overwhelming aroma of curry. I love curry, curry is great, but I don't like it in my chicken sandwiches. Especially if said sandwich is advertised as "hot chicken with Nashville heat". Next the menu. There is no description on what the heat levels are. Only no heat, mild, medium, hot, ex hot. But what is the flavor profile? What are the seasonings? I ended up trying the medium level since that's typically where my taste buds like to sit. The sandwich: the sandwich itself was gargantuan, however when I took a bite all I could taste was curry and no spice. Very unfortunate because I was excited to see what they had to offer. Now I know it's curry based sandwich. I did not eat my sandwich past the first bite because of the overwhelming seasoning of curry. I ended up talking to one of the staff members, one of which was very friendly, and the other who was cold and rude. They redid the sandwich sans seasonings and this time around was better, but not great. The only saving grace were the fries. They were good but not worth $50 of the meal I spent. Woobois is a glorified Popeyes. Will not...
