We come to Highlands every summer to escape the heat, enjoy friends and family and this wonderful area of Highlands/ Cashiers. This year we stayed at Bearhug. It has been one of the best homes mainly bc of the proximity to Highlands (2 miles from Main St Highlands) and the great porch. When looking for a rental home in this area, I have quite a specific list of things I look for. Mainly I look for a comfortable outdoor porch area ( comfy seating with sofas/ chairs with cushions, real wood burning fireplace, outdoor grill and outdoor dining for 6-8 people.) I do not want a bunch of hard rockers lined up looking at trees for instance. Bear Hug porch is large, screened on 3 sides with a stone fireplace and tall cathedral ceiling. We spend most of our time on this porch. Very quiet/ private area even though there are neighbors ( you cannot see any neighbors ). Home is well equipped and nicely furnished. We stayed here for 3 weeks and hate to leave. Good wifi connection too. Thank you to the Rent in Highlands agency for immediately answering questions I had and the owners for a great vacation too. We will certainly check the Bear Hug home again for vacancy next year when we return. Best regards, Lynn...
Read moreThis was a great lake house with an amazing view! The foliage background was breath-taking and beautiful for the fishing, canoeing, making smores at the firepit and just hanging out with the family. The swing on one of the porches allowed time to catch up, tell stories and endless laughter. The house was spacious and comfortable. The kitchen was stocked with your cooking needs - pots, pans, utensils, measuring cups, plates, glasses, serving dishes, etc. Do not forget your spices. We did not have hot water on Saturday morning, but the property manager was immediately responsive and provided location of the breaker panel and we were able to turn on the hot water breaker with no additional disruptions to the weekend. It was a great recharge time for the family. We look forward to the next adventure at...
Read moreWe stayed at Montevideo for four days and were sad we couldn’t stay longer! It was a gorgeous home with many bedrooms, including three different master bedrooms. The beds are extremely comfortable as well! We spent most of our time on the porch and really enjoyed making a fire while watching the amazing sunsets. It has an amazing view of the mountain range. We were also able to have 8 guests over and have a full dinner with the fully stocked kitchen. They have shampoo and conditioner kits in the bathroom upon arrival as well as toilet paper and paper towel and other essentials provided. We definitely would recommend to anyone we know looking to stay close to highlands. We loved our stay and can’t...
