This is one of the worst dining experiences Iāve had in a long time . We were told by the hostess it would a ten minute wait. This is fine, and we went out to sit on the bench where she told us to wait. After about 20 minutes, I went to inquire about our table. Apparently she had called my name from the door, and when I didnāt hear it, she just went back inside. No one ever came to get us. We finally sat down, ordered drinks, and the sweet tea we were given was soured. Our server took our order, and couldnāt even answer questions about the menu. He didnāt speak a word to us other than asking what we wanted. He also didnāt have a mask, just a face shield, which does not protect anyone from anything. Our food didnāt take long to come out at all, but when it did come out, our server threw our plates on the table. This is no exaggeration. He literally threw the plates down, shook his hands out because they were so hot, and walked off without a word. My girlfriend and I just kind of looked at each other incredulously, because we could not believe that had just happened. Iām surprised the food didnāt slide off onto the table. He even gave us the wrong plates, which normally wouldnāt be an issue , but if they are so hot the server has to throw them on the table, that shouldnāt happen. The food was mediocre at best. I ordered a philly, which wasnāt awful, just very bland. My girlfriend ordered the Rueben, and we were almost sure the meat on it had gone bad. The fries and potato salad were delicious, just not the entrees. To top it all off, we were given somebody elseās check. A lot these instances wouldnāt have been a big deal alone, because as someone who works in the restaurant industry, I understand that mistakes happen.. All of them together was just unacceptable. I will not be...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHighland's Blue Bike Cafe is a hidden gem that captures the essence of a bustling diner while delivering top-notch quality. With its warm and inviting atmosphere, it's no wonder locals flock here, creating a community of food enthusiasts.
For those seeking a fantastic dinner experience, this spot nails it. The veteran staff orchestrates the place like clockwork, ensuring a seamless visit. While the wait time for food can stretch a bit due to the cafe's popularity, it's a testament to the amazing dining scene.
Coffee aficionados will appreciate the daily-ground house-made coffee, sporting a Columbia roast that hits the spot just right. However, if you're a vegetarian, take note that some dishes may contain bacon grease, so proceed with caution.
Carnivores, rejoice! The 36-hour smoked pastrami is a star, although the pastrami hash falls slightly short of perfection, featuring tender but slightly soggy pastrami and potatoes.
When it comes to pure comfort, the cafe doesn't disappoint. Its thick, hearty pancakes and fluffy, soft biscuits redefine the meaning of a satisfying meal.
In a nutshell, the Blue Bike Cafe beckons to both locals and visitors seeking a unique dining experience. The diner-meets-gourmet concept resonates, but expect a bit of patience during peak hours. Don't miss the chance to indulge in the cafe's signature dishes while immersing yourself in the local...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe learned about this cafe while researching different places to eat to accommodate my food allergies. We were in Highlands leading into the July 4th holiday. We ate here 3x and it was very good each time. There is good variety on the menu and the team will do their best to accommodate requests. We had great service and wonderful conversations with each of our servers and the owner. They have a pup menu, and the team spoiled our pups the 2 of the 3 times we took them with us. While some non-locals or recently moved to the area people call this spot "country cooking" and turn their nose up at it, it's not a fair comment to make. It's just good solid American fare food. There is no fluff and puff about the place. It's family owned and operated, and we love that about the cafe. It is also more a locals' spot which is nice because it is not overrun by tourists. There may be a wait at peak times, but it is worth it to us. Also, we noticed some comments about having bad experiences. There's always more to the story and it's a two-way street - everyone has a bad day and sometimes food is not to a person's liking. That was not our experience, and we are looking forward to our next visit. In fact, we would encourage people to have a conversation with the cafe team to figure out a positive resolution...
