I was treated terribly by an employee this morning when I was trying to make a donation. I put a small CLEAN trash can I had bought from goodwill. It had an electric top that was Motion censored, and unfortunately, the electronic part of it didn’t work so I never even got to use it. I trashed the top piece, but the can itself was still in pristine condition, so I thought I just donate it back surely someone could use it. I had some nice curtain rods with the pieces all in the bag as a complete set. I sat it right by the donation door during operating hours. As I am backing up in my car, I look up to notice an employee angrily, throwing my stuff into the donation bins. This alarmed me therefore I went inside to address the situation. I had worked hard organizing the rod pieces and such so I was genuinely bothered that it was treated this way. Also wondering what exactly made him act that way, and then he went on to complain that I should have open the door and drop them in the bins. He also told me that they were going to throw out the rods anyways. Which baffles me because they are SUPER NICE rods. There is Goodwill‘s all over and I didn’t know that I was supposed to enter the door at this particular location. Usually I have seen someone come to the door and come out to help with donations as well as a tax write off.. I was never greeted or helped at all and then seeing his angry display really made it feel like he had a big point to make. If your angry that you got to do your job and place a can inside a bin please don’t work retail. BE...
Read moreThe good: The staff provided me with exceptional customer service. The bad: GCF is operated by Goodwill Industries of Eastern North Carolina. The prices of items here are set by Goodwill Industries of Eastern North Carolina. Their "value pricing" maybe a value if you make $40,000 a year, but it is not a value if you are living at the federal poverty line. Example: A men's shirt is $3 + Change. Is Goodwill so far behind the times that they do no realize that I can go to Walmart or Target and find a new shirt for equal to or less than $3 + change. THIS STORE TAKES CASH OR CHECKS ONLY. It would have been nice if that was on a sign in the store, but I did not find that out until I had to pay. Then I went across the street to the Walmart to get cash back. Finally, I heard in conversation that employees cannot actually shop at the store. Shame on you Goodwill. Your business structure...
Read moreMy daughter & I stopped in on our way to visit a relative in the hospital. We rummaged through the children's bin knowing all kids bin items are $1.69 & if the item is under 24mnths it's $1.49. My daughter picked up 2 dresses size 4T & I grabbed 1 summer skirt 3T & 1 cotton vest 24mnths. This employee tried to tell us any item over 24mnth was $3.15. We told her they were in the bin. She said customers take things off the hangers & toss them in the bin. This made NO sense to us. I told her that I could pull 20 items out of those bins that was over 24mnths. Absolutely ridiculous. There are adult bins for men, women & children. I've never experienced anything like this ever in all my years of shopping at Goodwill. Needless to say she needed the proper training & education on Goodwill bin prices. We...
