Papa Johns Pizza — Restaurant in Hillsborough

I've been going to this Papa Johns for over a decade, some of the employees even know me by my face. I've never once had issues with the service or the quality of the food, and by that merit alone I can't justify giving it one star.

However recently they've started slashing their Specials and coupons, the most notable one being the removal of their $9 Carry Out Special.

This hits especially hard because this made their pizzas very affordable if you were willing to drive out to the location and pick it up yourself. However now even with the few Specials they do have, you're not going to be able to get two pizzas for carryout for any less than $30, which I think is pretty absurd when you can get the same thing from the nearby Dominos for 2/3rds the price with no coupons or discounts.

On whim I looked at the next nearest location in Durham, and much to my surprise they listed the Carry Out Special alongside several other specials that the Hillsborough location no longer has. Not only that, but the Specials they did share were $1 cheaper than those at the Hillsborough location. I then checked other nearby locations, and it was the same exact thing. They all listed the Specials that the Hillsborough location had slashed, including the Carry Out Specials, and also listed the Specials they shared for a lower price.

I asked a kind gentleman at the store why they dropped the Carry Out Special while other locations still have it, and he said that it was a corporate decision, which I'm inclined to believe.

Nonetheless, my customer relationship with Papa Johns has always been centered around their discounts, particularly their Carry Out Special. While this may not be as big a deal for most, its removal will greatly dissuade me from ordering from this location in the future, as I can just walk across the parking lot and purchase a Wal-Mart deli pizza for almost half the cost.

I ordered a pizza online a couple of weeks ago for carry out and when l got home, the toppings were wrong. I called the store and they were apologetic and asked if l wanted to come back then to pick up new pizza or did l want the credit to be put back on my acct. for a later time. I chose the credit and my phone # was verified. Today l called to claim that credit and was told there was no record of it. Had l known this was going to happen, l would've gone back that same day to get the pizza l had actually ordered and paid for, but because they screwed up again by not putting it into the computer, l was told there was nothing that could be done about it by the manager. I expressed to the manager how l was going to contact the corporate office to complain about this situation, his response was"well when you contact Corporate it's just going to come right back to me, so we'll just be having this conversation again with no resolution." I hung up on him and then called back to get his name for when l file my complaint. I was told by an employee that his name was Nathan. I asked for a last name and when employee asked Nathan for his last name, l was hung up on! I've never experienced such horrible customer service before, especially from a Manager who clearly doesn't seem to care about customer service! What is this teaching the employee's? I filed a complaint with the corporate office and I'm leaving this review with hopes that something will be done about this situation and to make other customer's aware of what could happen to you at...

Horrible! Very disturbing! Would not even listen to find out what I wanted. I wanted them to add more pepperoni but they wouldn't. They never even said they would but it would cost more; just flat out refused to do it. But that was only the beginning of the disrespect. One of the employees from the back started to heckle me saying I was a little bit..h for complaining. That crosses the line. They even made remarks about my clothing... Of course they denied it all! The manager defended their actions. I have to give one star to make a review. They don't deserve to be trusted to serve food to the public. Solution...go see for yourself! Order a shaq pizza then add a topping and see how many pepperonis they take off, ask them to put them back. They told me no. Not "It will cost more". Just refused to do it.
