I would like to express my sincere gratitude for the wonderful experience my children had at the Kidsplex summer camp this year.
My 7-year-old son attended the camp, and it was his first time away from home during the summer. As many parents can attest, this can be a daunting transition. However, from the very first day, he was welcomed with warm smiles from all the staff. Gayle, in particular, did a phenomenal job understanding and supporting both my son and me through this new experience. Every morning, she would thoughtfully double-check that the campers had everything they needed for the day, and her warm welcome extended to everyone who stepped into the establishment. It's clear that the staff genuinely cares for the children and is dedicated to ensuring a safe and fun environment. In the afternoons, Sarah was excellent at informing parents about their child's day, and she shared in our excitement when our children had a particularly cool moment.
The kidsplex campers participated in swimming, iceskating, and more. A fun summer is on every child's wishlist and the sportsplex made my son's wish come true.
My daughter also had the pleasure of volunteering this summer and consistently came home with positive stories about her experiences with both the kids and staff at the Sportsplex. She truly appreciated the time and effort invested in all the campers, and every interaction she had with the staff was positive. My daugther dipped her toe in volunteering and can't wait to help out next summer.
My partner and I feel incredibly fortunate to know that both of our children were well cared for while we worked this summer.
A special shout-out to Gayle and Sarah for all you do for the Sportsplex campers. Thank you both so much for making this a memorable summer for...
Read moreThere are pro's and con's to the Sportsplex. It is a great place to feel part of the community. They have affordable prices for classes and activities (e.g., for members fitness classes are free, for non-members fitness classes are $9). They offer a variety of activities that are not available or accessible in other places: they have ice skating, hockey, swimming and swim team, basketball, soccer, workout and weight rooms, fitness classes. They also do other activities on the basketball courts, such as pickleball and have clinics to teach pickleball to new people. There are locker rooms on site located near the swim area.
Personally I love that it reaches so many people at so many different levels in their fitness. In my fitness classes there are people from their 90s all the way down to their 20s. They have a senior center connected to the SportsPlex and do a lot of work and conjunction with the senior center. As a person with an elderly father and getting to see some of the resources available from the senior center and the sportsplex, I have been very pleased and would highly recommend their services to any elderly folk looking for community, to improve fitness in any capacity, and to learn new skills.
All that being said, it is a very confusing physical space. It can be hard to navigate. The center has some areas that are older and more well-worn. For example not all of the machines in the weight rooms work or work the same way. Some of the treadmills are missing non-essential components like cup holders or the tag that connects to the treadmill and auto stops if you fall off. Their website is an absolute disaster even with more recent changes. While I have a number of other small complaints and suggestions for improvement, it's still a good...
Read moreThis review pertains to their birthday parties. We booked a party package for 10 kids with swimming afterwards. The good: The woman at the front desk was very warm and friendly; our room attendant was nice but other than bringing the food in, they don't do anything party-related; the 'party room' had fun bean bag chairs and it did have our requested colors for the table cloth and plates/cups; the pool itself was awesome; the girls locker room was clean. The not-so-good: The party room had no music or even speakers to bluetooth into - not a huge deal (we just used our phone) but it was the opposite of a "party atmosphere"; the facility had nothing to light candles with - we should have known to bring matches but we are renting a birthday party package so they should have this on hand and it was frustrating searching all over for a lighter and coming up with nothing; and the absolute worst part was the lifeguard. He had reddish hair and a beard and there were 15+ kids in the pool and he walked away at least 4 times in 2 hours - actually walked out of the pool area (into an office) or he walked down to the other part of the pool. There were times when he was not watching the kids for at least 5 minutes. I basically stood at the pool's edge for most of the party because I was responsible for 9 of these children and I felt the life guard was not reliable. Clearly they need more than one lifeguard on duty, with one being dedicated to the...
