I’ll preface this by saying, I hate clothes shopping! So 3 months ago, when friends and family told me that I should start shopping for my wedding dress, I kept putting it off. Fast forward to this past week, I realize my wedding is 7/8 months away, and I shouldn’t put this task off for any longer.
I went by myself to one other shop two days ago (Friday), and while it was nice trying on dresses and figuring out what worked and what didn’t, I left wondering what I got myself into. I did put a small non-refundable deposit to hold a small discount as there were a couple of dresses I felt a slight connection to. I honestly didn’t know if that was a smart thing to do and if I’d be able to check out another shop anytime soon, so this was going to be my fall-back plan, even if the cost for these dresses was quite a bit out of my price range.
I ended up sending some pictures and videos to one of the girls in my wedding party, and could tell that like me, she wasn’t exactly wowed by the options I had. I remembered she had mentioned a few other bridal shops, but with them all in Bergen County, they were all closed on Sundays.
She then mentioned and linked me to Adrienn Braun Couture! I quickly visited the website and saw they had one appointment available for 11:30am on Sunday (today). I went ahead and booked it, not really expecting anything to come of it, as I didn’t want to get my hopes up.
So now it’s Sunday, I pick up my girlfriend who told me about this place, and we head over. Street parking wasn’t too bad, and I appreciated the instructions that were texted to me by the Adrienne Braun team. We walked up, and I grew more and more curious as we traversed the building and crossed a bridge that led to a locked door. We rang the bell and were welcomed inside by a lovely soul named Israa and a couple of glasses of champagne! We also met Adrienn before walking over to our section, so it was nice meeting the person whose visions came to life through dresses in a showroom.
Let me tell you!! Israa was amazing from start to finish! She made us feel so welcome and comfortable. She listened intently to what I had in mind, and also took into consideration my body type and personal style. She grabbed 4 dresses to start, and we got right to it.
I picked the first dress to try on at random, and holy!! It was like it was meant to be! I knew I’d need to make some slight alterations, but my girlfriend and I really felt like it was going to be the one! I was so shocked about how well it fit me, and from there it was the top contender. I tried on the rest in that stack as well as a few more, but nothing quite had us as excited as the first dress of the day.
I ended up mentioning that I’d like to try a different cut/fit for a second dress, and Israa was so helpful and patient the entire time! She showed us around the showroom and we stumbled upon a couple of promising options, and ended up finding a winner as well!
So there we were, nearing the end of our appointment, and I couldn’t believe that I was going to leave with two dresses for what’s best described as a steal, and with such a wonderful experience to remember!
We laughed a lot, shared some stories, and just thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. Israa was never pushy and the process never felt rushed either! Bonus points, Israa has a great voice and is part Filipina!
I’ll be back to have my alterations done in a few months, and I have high hopes for that appointment being as seamless of an experience as this one.
All in all, if anyone is still looking for a dress, or you are just starting your search, be sure to stop into Adrienn Braun Couture!! You just might surprise yourself and leave with a dress (or two!)!! While I know that the small deposit I placed two days ago is now gone forever, I have absolutely no regrets!!
Thank you Israa, Adrienn, and the Adrienn Braun team for such a great experience!! I’ll be sure to pass your info along, cause why would I gate-keep such an...
Read moreYou know that moment in the first Sex and the City movie…. When Carrie gets the Vivienne Westwood dress.. and it like transformed her entire energy about the wedding. She constantly said “but… its the dress”
NEVER IN MY LIFE - DID I EXPECT A GARMENT OF CLOTHING TO DO THIS TO MY SOUL.
First off - I was greeted by both a very wonderful sales rep and Adrienn herself. Myself and party were immediately offered champagne (my friends and I actually dont drink) so we were still immediately offered a refreshment and shown around.
There was another appointment at the same time as mine - but I would have never known they were there and I felt completely catered to as if the entire space was just for me and my friends. I was so honored to have my appointment with Adrienn herself. It was unexpected! The other woman who greeted me already had such a lovely energy “I almost asked… can she take care of us instead?”
But this woman did NOT disappoint. I was asked ALL the right questions I was pointed out ALL the important things to look for and consider. (That i didnt even think of) I felt like she was listening to everything I said, even when i wasnt speaking directly to her and she was already ten steps ahead of me.
She has this way taking a moment that can be overwhelming… and making it so calm and enjoyable. I didnt feel like I was being pushed by a sales woman at all. I didnt feel like i was being upsold or persuaded. She was so perfectly straightforward and cared only about what I wanted and How I felt.
NOT TO MENTION - she had a brilliant method for helping you pick which dresses you like best that you tried on. I’m keeping that a secret - she has perfected the system. Just book an appointment and find out for yourself.
And then that moment happened….. The moment you hear about but sometimes roll your eyes or cringe like “yeah right.”
The audible gasp. The “oh no.” But.. a good “ Oh-no.” The…. I think it’s happening “Oh, no.” The… here come the tears I swore i wouldnt cry “Oh-no”
Curtain pulled… and my friends faces said it all. I stepped on the pedestal and there was silence. We knew. We alll knew.
BUT THEN AS IM TALKING WITH MY FRIENDS IN COMES ADRIENN ever so casually WITH THE PERFECT VEIL Says nothing, lets me continue on staring - eyes glued to the mirror listening to my trusted advisors fawn over how I looked. If I wasnt sure before… I actually said “Oh shit” when she put the veil on me.
It was done.
I happened to get a dress off the rack that I fell in love with. And there were SOOO many beautiful and versatile styles to try on. But if you have a vision…. THIS WONDERFUL WOMAN ALSO MAKES CUSTOM DRESSES And HUUUNNNIIIEEEEEE - do they slay.
Cherry on top… Idk if you’ve researched what bridal boutiques charge for alterations - even my local dry cleaner has an amazing woman with rave reviews… Upwards of thousands sometimes!
The fact that these dresses are designed and made in house - Adrienn and her team already know each stitch, fabric, and what a dress needs to fit like a glove and amplify their beauty on to their flesh canvas. So her alteration price - WAS AMAZING. (What a relief.)
I’ll send people to her forever. I’ll rave about that moment forever. I WISH HER NOTHING BUT CONTINUED SUCCESS - anyone that could make me feel so special deserves it in return ten fold and forever.
Expect a follow up review after my wedding when I can actually post photos and videos of that moment. (My friend caught the veil application and “oh shit” moment. So STAY TUNED) Before then… Go book your...
Read moreI rarely leave negative reviews, but I feel it’s important to share my experience to help other brides avoid the stress and disappointment I went through.
I booked a bridal appointment at Adrienn Braun Couture and, unfortunately, woke up the morning of with a high fever. I sent them a message early that morning explaining that I wasn’t feeling well and was heading to urgent care. I said I wasn’t sure I’d be in the right headspace to try on dresses and asked if rescheduling was possible, ending with: “Please let me know.” I did NOT explicitly say to cancel.
At no point did I definitively cancel. I left the door open to figure out what could be done. However, without asking for confirmation or explaining any consequences, the shop immediately canceled my appointment and sent me a rescheduling link. They never mentioned that I would still be charged a $75 late cancellation fee.
A few days later, I noticed a charge on my credit card and followed up, thinking there had been a mistake. Their response was that, according to their 48-hour cancellation policy, the fee was valid—even though I never confirmed a cancellation, and they never disclosed that I would be charged when they took it upon themselves to cancel for me.
Had I known I’d be charged regardless, I would have done what many brides feel pressured to do—I would’ve dragged myself there sick, just to avoid the fee. But I made the responsible choice not to expose their staff and other clients to illness (I was later diagnosed with the flu, which I offered to provide a doctor’s note for). Instead of being met with understanding, I was penalized.
This whole experience felt like they were taking advantage of a vulnerable situation. Planning a wedding is emotional, expensive, and often overwhelming. Charging brides a cancellation fee without clearly communicating it—and using vague, friendly language to cancel for them without warning—feels exploitative. It’s a way to profit off brides who are trying to do the right thing.
There are so many incredible bridal boutiques out there that treat their clients with respect, empathy, and professionalism. Sadly, this was not one of them. If you choose to book here, just know that you may be charged without notice—even if you’re sick, even if you communicate in good faith, and even if they cancel the...
