Hoboken Diamond is truly a local hidden gem. Deciding to approach the ring process together with my [now] fiancé, we made an appointment to meet with Reynold and Tony, who listened to our thoughts, requests, hesitations, excitement, and made us feel comfortable that we were in good hands with their no-pressure approach and willingness to try and help meet our needs.
The first step in Hoboken Diamondâs custom engagement ring process was sourcing a diamond. In discussing budget with my fiancĂ© and understanding preferences of the cut, carat size, clarity, and color from us both, we were shown two stunning diamonds within days of the initial appointment, that as Reynold put it, âcould have made a pair of earrings.â Upon understanding the subtle differences between each, we selected âTheâ diamond and were off to designing the setting, where Reynoldâs creative skills and industry knowledge rose above the ranks. His honesty and integrity when we would ask about how things like hidden halos, different style of cuts on the band, or the setting would impact the design (where in some cases he steered us away from things that another jeweler may try and easily upsell you on) was a testament to how much he truly cared about the craftsmanship of his work, protection of the ring, AND the happiness of his customers.
Knowing the ring was being handmade locally in the back of the shop right here in Hoboken felt even more special; and having personally not seen the actual ring until the day we got engaged left me with some additional elements of surprise. Every detail was listened to and so beautifully executed â neither of us can stop admiring it to this day. We could not have been happier to have chosen to work with Hoboken Diamond, and would highly recommend their work to anyone embarking on this next stage...
Read moreWhat started off as getting some prongs checked and tightened on an estate ring that I bought elsewhere soon turned into a messy ordeal when Reynold learned and showed me that one of the diamonds was actually a cubic zirconium super glued on. Throughout the entire process of trying to get rid of this stubborn-as-all-hell glue (it was NOT budging with any conventional method) so that he could replace the CZ and get the prong work done, Reynold was communicative and transparent in letting me know what wasnât working, and what he was planning on doing next. Because the main stone was an emerald, he took great care in making sure that whatever method he was thinking of doing wouldnât compromise the integrity of the stone.
When I finally got my ring back, the glue was gone, the CZ was replaced with a diamond, and the original repair that we had initially discussed was done, and I couldnât be any happier with how Reynold handled the whole thing. I was so upset when I first learned about the CZ and glue, and Reynold made sure that when I went to pick it up again, I would be picking up something better than what was left with him.
I am very impressed with how he was able to problem solve this as it wasnât an easy fix due to the emerald, and I will happily return to Reynold for any other jewelry repair needs in the future. You can see the pride he has in his work, and he will be honest on what you get from him. Reynold is excellent at what he does, his pricing is fair and reasonable, and his open communication put me at ease every step of the way.
Thank you again for...
Read moreAfter not being able to wear my wedding ring set for almost 2 years (one of those "lucky" girls whose fingers and ring size changed from pregnancy) I finally took them along with my watch to Hoboken Gold and Diamond, and I wished I had gone there ages ago! We had first taken the rings to the reputable and famous Diamond District in NYC and their suggestions (from a couple of places) were to add more platinum to my engagement ring and that resizing my wedding ring was impossible so I should pick out a new one. I am a very sentimental gal and didn't want my rings changed in ANY WAY. I wanted to be able to tell my kids the story of how their father proposed with this ring, got married with the other and if we ever had a daughter I wanted her to have them. I didn't want the story that went along with the rings to be "these are the rings I picked out after your brother was born since I couldn't wear the rings your Dad originally got me", where is the romance in that?! But when I told those jewelers I didn't want new rings they responded with shock, "what woman doesn't want to pick out a new, BETTER ring?". I was so upset we left and I told me husband we would give it a year to see if my fingers went back to their original size. They didn't so I took them to Hoboken Gold and Diamond. Not only did Reynold tell me he could resize my wedding ring, he also could stretch my engagement ring (saving me a ton of money), he did both the same day I dropped them off and they were FLAWLESS! I couldn't be happier and now my husband and I will be...
